Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 159

John put his phone away and went back to the living room.

Sierra was talking to Tommy about the next few days, reminding him repeatedly that if anything happened, he should call her. As long as he needed her, she would come back to be with him, no matter how busy she was.

Tommy nodded, telling her that he understood.

After a while, Tommy glanced at John, then looked up at his mom. Will Dad go too?

Sierra raised her eyes and met John’s gaze. As far as she was concerned, he wouldn’t go. Had Pamela not been in a car accident, he might have gone.

But now that Pamela was in the hospital and he was worried about her, there was no way he would leave her alone just to make things difficult for Sierra.

I won’t,John said as he walked over and stopped in front of Tommy. It’s your mom’s departmental event. If I showed up, nobody would be able to relax.

Sierra said nothing.

Tommy pursed his lips and stayed quiet, too.

John patted Tommy’s head. I have things to do, so I’m heading out. Go to bed early tonight.

Tommy nodded again.

Sierra didn’t even look at him a second time.

You too,John said. He tapped Sierra lightly on the forehead with one finger. Don’t risk your health just for a bit of money.

As if he knew that would annoy her, he went to change his clothes next door. Sierra was about to glare at him, but his sudden exit forced her to stop.

These past two days made Tommy feel like things had gone back to how they were before the divorce, when his mom and dad still lived together.

When the door closed behind John, Tommy hesitated for a moment, then said, Mom.

Sierra answered him. What is it?

Can I ask you a question?Tommy asked.

Sierra looked at him, patient and gentle. Go ahead.

Do you still love Dad?Tommy asked. His eyes were completely serious.

Sierra went still.

Did she still love him?

She didn’t know.

She only knew she hated him for his betrayal. She couldn’t accept the things he had done or said. But five years of love and care didn’t vanish so quickly.

Not to mention that yesterday, when she broke down, he held her so firmly and tightly despite her emotional state.

It was ironic, but in that state, she really needed a hug she couldn’t push away, and he had given it.

She hated John, but she also loved him.

Tommy saw the look on her face and knew she couldn’t answer the first question, so he asked, If Dad wanted to make up with you now, would you get back together with him?

Sierra answered this one without any hesitation. No.

She couldn’t accept that he had slept with Pamela. She also couldn’t accept the idea that he wanted a wife at home and another woman outside.

Mom,Tommy said softly.

Sierra hummed a reply.

Tommy kissed her on the cheek, his small face full of love. I love you.

Sierra wrapped her arms around him, her voice very soft. Mom loves you, too.

John had just finished changing. He raised his hand, ready to knock on the door, when he heard the two of them talking inside. He let his hand fall, then turned and left. He didn’t disturb the warm moment between mother and

son.

He reached the hospital a little after eight in the evening.

When Robin saw him, worry stirred in his chest. Boss.
