Chapter 160
John’s gaze fell on Robin, colder than before. “I don’t want to hear something like that a second time.”
“Boss…” Robin started, but one look from John forced the rest of his words back down.
Pamela heard their exchange. Her fingers tightened on the blanket as a wave of fear rose in her chest.

She knew very well why John had believed her back then. It wasn’t only because she knew the details of that incident, but also because of the scar on her leg that matched the one in his memory. It was at the same place and at the same length.
The real girl who had saved him, Sierra, had the scar removed in college. Pamela had gone to a doctor and had an
identical scar made.
If that doctor ever came forward one day…
The more Pamela thought about what could happen, the more restless she felt.
“Pamela!” Nora raised her voice when she saw that she was zoning out.
Pamela snapped back. “What is it?”
As the words left her mouth, she saw John already inside the room, seated beside her bed.
He looked as steady and composed as always. That version of him made her hands clench even harder, kicking up a storm of complex emotions inside her.
“Robin said you haven’t eaten all afternoon,” John said, his voice calm, as if nothing had happened earlier. “Is it because you have no appetite, or because you don’t like the food?”
Sweat broke out in Pamela’s hands. “Will you keep taking care of me?”
“I will,” John said.
It was the answer that should have made her happy, yet she felt no happiness at all. Such care should have belonged to Sierra, the woman he had always spoiled.
She couldn’t understand why someone as ordinary as Sierra could win John’s love. Was it because of that pretty face? Or because she was the heiress of the Bell Group?
“But I don’t want what happened last time to ever happen again.” John enunciated each word clearly.
“It won’t,” Pamela said, lowering her head. She had spent the whole afternoon and evening thinking.
After hearing Robin voice his doubts, she was even more certain of what she wanted.
She wanted John’s heart, and she wanted everything he owned. Only then, when the truth finally came out, could she walk away in one piece and escape whatever he might do to her.
To pull that off, she would need someone to work with.
“I’m sorry about everything.” Pamela’s tone shifted. Her emotions calmed down. “Sorry.”
Robin blinked, unsure what to make of it.
John’s brow furrowed as a thought crossed his mind.
Pressing down the fear and dread in her chest, Pamela forced herself to speak in a lighter tone. “In the next few
