Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 164

After the call ended, Sierra sat in the garden for a long time. She thought about Jubilee’s words again and again.

Jubilee was loud, fiery, and loved to joke around. Even so, she wouldn’t joke around after hearing about Sierra’s divorce and how difficult things were for Sierra. In other words, what she said was very likely to be true.

But if everything was true, then what did that say about her mother’s identity?/

Questions filled Sierra’s mind. Unable to make sense of any of it, she decided to try a different route. On Wednesday, she would have Holly or Nicholas go with her to see Lucas.

He had lived side by side with her mother for so many years. There was no way he knew nothing. (15

Evening came quickly.

Sierra cooked a lot of dishes together with the others.

They were just about to start eating and drinking when John walked in, wearing a stark black shirt that made him look even more restrained, with his sleeves rolled up to show a stretch of strong forearm.

When he appeared, everyone stood up in unison and greeted him. Mr. Henderson.

John’s gaze swept over the group and finally lingered on Sierra for a few seconds longer. More than a few people noticed.

I’m just here to take a look,John said, his calm, cool voice unhurried. Go on, enjoy yourselves.

Since you’re here, let’s

toast Mr. Henderson. The project’s team lead, Randy Jenkins, poured a glass of wine at the table and gave the others a look. It’s an honor to have Mr. Henderson thinking about us. Don’t you all think So?

Everyone raised their glasses.

Sierra did as well, though this time the glass in her hand was the fruit juice she had poured earlier.

John’s unreadable gaze landed openly on Sierra, moving from her face to the glass in her hand. It was impossible not to notice a blatant move like that.

Sierra, you should swap that juice for wine.

Yeah, Mr. Henderson is still watching.

Just change it.

The people beside her whispered at her.

Sierra glanced around. She wasn’t the only one holding fruit juice.

I’ve still got things to do later, just one glass.John walked over to their table at a relaxed pace and finally looked away from Sierra.

Alright,Randy said. He immediately picked up a clean glass, filled it, and handed it over, then glanced at everyone else. If Mr. Henderson’s drinking, shouldn’t we try to be a bit more sincere?

Of course!

Just a second, Mr. Henderson, I’ll switch mine.

The two people holding fruit juice spoke up immediately.

Sierra’s fingers tightened around her glass. If she didn’t change to wine, people in the department would definitely talk about it later. It might even affect how they worked with her.

But if she did change to wine, even if she didn’t black out like last time, she was sure she would still end up drunk

For a moment, she was completely stuck.

It’s fine,John held his wine glass in his hand, a cool expression on his handsome face. I only came to make sure this event’s safe. I’m not here to make things hard for you.

With that, he drank the wine in his glass.
