As soon as John finished what he wanted to say to Pamela, he hung up.

He didn’t give Pamela a chance to say anything else.

Pamela hurled the already shattered phone onto the floor again. This time, the screen popped free and separated from the rest of the phone.

The bodyguards outside glanced in from the doorway, but none of them stepped in to pick it up.

Compared to the suffocating atmosphere in the hospital ward, things were much more relaxed between Sierra and Holly.

“Isn’t it just a doctor’s visit?” Sierra asked, baffled. “Why is Pamela so terrified? Even if she was pregnant before this and had a miscarriage, or had an abortion, John probably wouldn’t care.”

“We still haven’t figured it out for the time being,” Holly said.

“Then why did you agree to her request?” Sierra asked.

“I promised I wouldn’t say anything, and you won’t either. That doesn’t mean someone else will keep their mouth shut,” Holly

said.

She opened the door into her car and got in before starting the engine, then drove Sierra to work.

“Before we went in, I already handed everything to Nicholas.”

Sierra gave her a thumbs–up. Leave it to Holly, alright!

“Besides…” Holly dragged the word out, her tone meaningful. “In business, nothing verbal counts unless you have it in writing. You can tell Pamela has never really been hit with reality.”

Sierra nodded.

That was true. No matter how big a dream someone sold you, no matter how sweet the promises sounded, none of it meant a thing if they weren’t realized.

“Speaking of which. Since you used to stay in the same dorm as her, do you know anything about her going to the hospital?” Holly asked.

Sierra gave it a thought and shook her head. “No, I never heard anything close to it.”

“Drop it for now, then.” Holly turned the wheel, her shoulders finally loosening as she was no longer stressed about the ordeal. “We’ll talk about it more after Nicholas finishes his investigation.”

Sierra hummed in agreement.

Once they reached the company, Holly left.

Sierra sat at her desk and replayed the hospital scene for a moment. There was nothing else to chase down, so she pushed it aside and focused on work.

Before she knew it, it was Saturday.

Sierra went to tutor Eden at her home like usual and turned down the request for extra lessons.

After class at noon, Sierra left the Lane residence and headed straight to the hospital. She grabbed a quick bite on the way. When

she got there, she went to Anna’s room first, like always, and talked with Anna for over two hours.
