Chapter 239
John glanced at Lucy and told her he needed to take the call.
He walked to the window and answered, his voice steady and pleasant as usual. “What is it?”
“You still haven’t answered my question from yesterday.” Sierra kept her tone calm. She didn’t want to start a fight with him at a time like this.
“About the divorce?” John asked.
“Yes,” Sierra said.
“I’m not free on Thursday.”
He was telling the truth. As the CEO of Henderson Group and owner of Origin Games, he had endless decisions waiting for him every day. With all his roles piled together, he could be busy every single day unless he chose to make time.
“When are you free, then?” Sierra knew how much work he had and didn’t suspect he was doing it on purpose. “We can set a time so I can take leave from work.”
“Come to my office on Monday.” John sounded completely serious. “I’ll have Robin send you my schedule, and we can pick a time together.”
Sierra frowned.
She really didn’t want to be alone with John at Origin Games. The people there were just too nosy.
“If you don’t want to do that, then you’ll have to wait for Robin to sort out my schedule. I’ll send it to you later,” John said, giving her a second option.
Sierra didn’t hesitate. “I’ll come see you tomorrow.”
If she left it to Robin, she had no idea how long it would drag on. Only by keeping the timing in her hands could she avoid more
problems.
“Alright,” John said before hanging up.
He pulled up Robin in his contacts, called him, and told him to pack his schedule as full as possible.
Monday came fast.
The morning meeting went as usual and lasted a little over half an hour. The moment John ended the meeting, everyone gathered their things and started to leave.
Sierra deliberately slowed down as she packed. She glanced at John, hoping he would use work as an excuse to keep her there. This was a conference room, after all. Even if people gossiped, they wouldn’t dare go too far here.
Yet, he didn’t say a word even as she walked out with her things.
There were still other people in the conference room. If she lingered, it would be obvious.
She had just returned to her desk when a message popped up on her phone.
[Didn’t you want to talk about something? Why did you leave?]
Sierra narrowed her eyes.
Did he really not understand why she had left?

Sierra forced her frustration down and turned to Jenny. She decided to head to John’s office directly. “Sis, I need to step out for a bit because something came up. Is that alright?”
“Go ahead,” Jenny said. She had always been easy with Sierra.
Sierra grabbed a couple of tissue papers from the box and left her work desk, making it look like she was heading to the
restroom.
When she reached John’s office, she glanced down the hall. After she made sure no one was around, she opened the door and slipped inside.
John didn’t look surprised. He pulled up the schedule Robin had sent, then turned the screen toward her. “Which day do you think is best?”
Sierra studied it.
Every morning and afternoon was blocked off with something important..
