Chapter 305
John sat on the couch in the living room, completely composed.
When Sierra asked how Tommy was, he only gave a light reply. “He’s not out of danger yet.”
“What did the doctors say?” Sierra asked. She still trusted the private hospital under Henderson Group. It had some of the best doctors in the world, after all. “What triggered the allergy? What symptoms does he have?”
“I haven’t agreed to let them treat him yet,” John said, his gaze landing on her.
Sierra did not quite understand. “What?”
John changed the way he worded it. “Whether Tommy makes it or not depends on whether you’re willing to come back to me.”
Sierra froze for a moment, then quickly understood what he meant.
“Are you out of your mind?!” This time, she was truly angry. She had never imagined he would use their son as a bargaining chip. “He’s your son too! Aren’t you afraid something will happen to him?”
“That’s why I left the door open and waited for you to come give me an answer,” John said. His voice was as calm as ever.
Sierra fell silent.
Her thoughts raced.
The teacher must have called John first. He knew that once she found out, she would come looking for him, so he had left the door open for the negotiation.
“If you agree to come back and be my wife, I’ll give the order to start treatment right away,” John said as he looked straight at her, his unhurried tone pressing down on her like a weight. “If you don’t, he lives or dies on his own.”
Sierra forced herself to calm down. “You wouldn’t dare.”
John was ruthless, but he had always been good to Tommy.
As Tommy’s father, he wouldn’t act this recklessly. He wouldn’t really throw his own son into that kind of danger.
“You can take a chance either way.” Every word that came out of John’s mouth felt like a knife with barbs. “As long as you can handle the consequences if you make the wrong bet.”
Sierra stared at him for two seconds. She couldn’t figure him out in this situation at all. She quickly pulled out her phone and started a video call with Dr. Smith.
As soon as he picked up, she asked. “Doctor, how is Tommy?“.
“He’s in the emergency room.” Dr. Smith turned the camera so she could see. “Mr. Henderson gave the order. Without his permission, no one is allowed to treat him.”
“Can I see him?” Panic rose in Sierra’s chest.
Her instincts told her John would not really do this.
But she was afraid.
What if…
Dr. Smith stayed silent and didn’t answer.
John glanced over and spoke coldly, “You may.”
Sierra looked at John. The belief that he would never be so heartless began to waver.

Dr. Smith opened the door and entered. The camera faced Tommy on the emergency bed. Red blotches covered his whole body, his lips pale. Sweat appeared on his forehead. A group of doctors stood around his bed, all waiting for the order to begin
treatment.
Seeing him like that, Sierra’s heart ached.
Sierra looked back at John and demanded, “What do
you
want?”
“Come back and be my wife. From now on, you will never bring up divorce again.” John opened his eyes, his tone steady and unhurried. “You stay by my side, and you don’t leave.”
Sierra’s hands at her sides slowly curled into fists.
