“She’s my wife.” John’s tone was calm, but his eyes softened a little when he looked at Sierra. “We’re married.”

Fanny’s eyes flew wide. She stared at Sierra excitedly as she blurted out, “You’re the CEO’s wife?!”

John didn’t say anything else. He picked up Sierra’s suitcase with one hand and took her hand with the other, leading her out.

Fanny stared after them, thrilled and almost giddy at how perfect they looked together. “I never would’ve guessed Sierra was his wife. So, she really did come to Origin Games just to experience what life is like for us, huh?”

Sierra’s steps froze for a moment at the door.

A hint of self–contempt appeared in her eyes.

It was exactly what she had expected. The moment her identity was exposed, everything she did was simply so she could ” experience life” as they did.

“Does she need to work that hard just to experience life?” Leona knew how much Sierra cared about this and spoke up for her. Don’t mix her personal effort with family background.”

“If she didn’t come here just for the experience, why else would she work at Origin Games?” Fanny kept going. “The Henderson Group is so huge…”

Sierra couldn’t hear the rest after that. All she knew was that everything she had poured into the past month was wasted. Those bitter days she had forced herself through had been for nothing.

Everything she had worked for was wiped out by one sentence from John.

“Are you hungry?” John acted like nothing had happened. “Do you want me to have someone send up supper?”

“Do you even have a conscience?” Sierra yanked her hand out of his hand back in their room. She fumed with hostility and disgust toward him. “Tommy has just gotten out of danger, and you’re already thinking about food! You haven’t even checked whether this allergy will leave him with any lasting effects on his health…”

Sierra yelled at him for a long time. She poured out every grief she had been holding inside.

John didn’t interrupt or argue. He knew that after what had happened, Sierra needed to vent. He had done it on purpose, so it was only natural that he should bear the consequences.

Eventually, Sierra finally ran out of words two minutes later.

Fear for Tommy’s condition clutched her chest. “I want to take some time off and go back to Jade City.”

No matter how important work was, it couldn’t compare to Tommy’s safety. The reason she worked hard was for their future.

“Tommy’s fine. The doctor checked him, and there aren’t any future complications.” John answered every worry she had thrown at him when she was yelling at him. “The test results on what triggered the allergy will be out in three days at most. If you want, you can go to the summer camp and see him yourself.”

Sierra stayed stubborn. “I still want to take some time off!”

“You can make that decision yourself,” John said.

She was so angry that her face flushed.

Seeing the look on her face, John gave in quickly. “Alright. You can go back to Jade City first thing tomorrow morning. I approve of your leave.”

Once she had the answer she wanted, Sierra submitted her leave request through the system. She was stubborn, stubborn enough that people sometimes thought she didn’t know what a compromise was.
