John glanced at Forde.
Forde pressed him instead, “Why aren’t you saying anything?”
John turned to Sierra instead. “I’m heading out for now. If anything comes up later, call me anytime.”
Sierra said nothing and simply walked inside. She knew John had planned all of this and allowed it. Without his permission and his signal, Grant and Forde both would never have dared to say such things right in front of him.
Since this was the image he wanted to present, she would let him have it.
“Ms. Bell.” Grant walked in with a tablet and began to explain the rules. “You have the final say in everything in this house except throwing Mr. Henderson out. If you two disagree about something, your word comes first.”
“Except I can’t throw him out?” Sierra asked.
“Yes,” Grant nodded.
Sierra raised her hand. “Give me every key to the master bedroom and the spare master keys as well.”
Grant didn’t hesitate. “Of course.”
He knew she wanted those keys so John couldn’t get back into the master bedroom. Everyone at Campanile Estate could see that he wanted her back, and none of them intended to stand in his way.
Even if he was the one who brought this upon himself earlier!
Sierra stared at the keys in her palm for a moment, a little startled. She had not expected them to actually hand the keys over.
“If you need anything later, please let me know,” Grant said. He had always liked Sierra as the lady of the house, and he naturally hoped the two of them would make up.
Sierra gave a nod and went to the study.
After that, she managed to ease into her new environment and started to work on her drafts. She worked through the whole afternoon and easily earned a payment.
Her phone buzzed twice.
John sent a voice message. “Give me some time. I’ll sort things out with Pamela.”
Sierra texted back. [Weren’t you passed out drunk?]
Half an hour earlier, she had received a call saying he had passed out from drinking. Later, she saw him sitting in the car, completely sober. He hadn’t even bothered to put on an act.
“I wasn’t drunk.” John was quite honest about these things. His voice was low and unhurried. “I just used someone else to tell you that I missed you.”
Sierra was speechless for a time. Eventually, she put her phone down and ignored him.
John came home in the early hours of the next morning.
Grant knew roughly when he would arrive. He waited on purpose in the living room to take the chance to tell him what had happened during the day. “Ms. Bell took the master bedroom keys and the master keys. I’m afraid you’ll have to sleep in the guest room tonight.”
John said nothing and got upstairs.

At the master bedroom door, he grabbed the handle and easily opened the door. Sierra did just as he had thought. Because he was home that night, she hadn’t locked the door.
He went to the next room to take a shower first, then came into the bedroom. He snaked an arm around her from behind and fell asleep holding her, just like many times before this.
The next morning, Sierra woke and found his arms around her, yet her heart was completely calm. Because of the agreement they had made that night, if he wanted to come in, he could always find a way, even though she had taken the keys.
