Chapter 342

John kissed Sierra’s ear as his hand slid under her pajama top and stroked her waist under the blanket.
Sierra held back her discomfort and asked calmly, “Are you just fulfilling your part of the agreement?”
John’s hand didn’t stop at her waist. The air between them grew heavy with intimacy. His cool lips trailed along her neck. “No. Just a little romance between husband and wife.”
“I don’t want to.” Sierra pushed his hand away and sat up.
His arms were suddenly empty.
Her warmth and scent still lingered on him.
John sat up at a measured pace. His fingers, still remembering her touch, gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “If you don’t want to, then we’ll wait until you do. This is only good if we’re both on the same page. Otherwise, it’s just one–sided torment.”
Sierra turned her face away.
Even now, no matter how much she hated what he had done in the past, she couldn’t ignore the good in him.
This man… Even if they completely went their separate ways in the future, the warm, happy days of those five years were enough for her to remember for the rest of her life.
They barely spoke for the rest of the day. Apart from eating and accompanying Tommy, one of them was working overtime while the other was absorbed in her design work to make a living most of the time.
After what had happened last time, John no longer complained about her hobbies.
If she wanted to paint, she painted. He would support her whether she decided to stop or keep going.
Monday came before she knew it.
John had an important meeting at Henderson Group, so he dropped Sierra off in front of Origin Games before driving away. He had Randy run the Origin Games meeting instead.
Sierra had just arrived at the company and hadn’t yet reached her desk when she noticed several coworkers who had arrived earlier looking her way, muttering the same words under their breath.
“She’s here, she’s here!”
“Sierra, did you have breakfast yet? Do you want some cake?”
“What do you like in the morning, coffee or water? I can get it for you.”
“Mr. Henderson didn’t come with you?”
