Chapter 350
That one sentence shattered what little goodwill Sierra still had toward John that he built up during this time. She laughed at herself in silence and walked to him.
“As long as you stay obediently by my side, I can give you anything you want,” John said, pulling her into his arms and settling her on his lap, his fingers closing around her cool hand.
Sierra didn’t say a word, but her silence didn’t worry him at all.
His gaze rested on her distant, blank face. One hand lay on her waist as he went on, “Alright?”
Sierra didn’t even have the strength to answer.
Did she really have the right to say no? Every time she went against him, he used the people around her to threaten her.
“If you don’t say anything, I’ll take it as a yes,” John said.
His warm fingertips traced up along her skin while his other hand held the back of her head. He leaned down and pressed his lips to hers.
His movements were gentle. He knew her body so well that even a casual touch could find her sensitive spots.
But Sierra’s resistance ran too deep. The second his lips touched hers, her body reacted on pure instinct. She almost instantly fell forward, pushed herself off him, and retched, but nothing came out. She couldn’t stop after that.
Watching her hunch over the trash can, retching again and again, John’s eyes grew darker. Did he really repulse her that much?
“This is a physical reaction. I can’t control it,” Sierra said flatly when she finally stopped. “If you still want it, I’ll clean up and come back. I just hope you won’t hurt my friend.”
Her words hit him square in the chest.
“Am I really the kind of man who ignores what you want in your eyes?” John asked.
“Yes,” Sierra answered without a hint of hesitation.
Before today, she might still have been able to see past the surface and catch a glimpse of his real feelings.
Now, she could no longer do so. All she could see were his threats, forcing her to bend for his sake repeatedly.
His so–called kindness was nothing but a tool to reach his goal. He wanted her to willingly come back to him and accept his original demand to keep supporting Pamela. If she refused, he switched to force.
Like today’s threat.
“Then go wash up,” John said coldly. “When you’re done, wait for me in the room.”
He wanted to see just how far her stubbornness would take her.
“I’ll do what you asked,” Sierra said calmly. “I hope you’ll also do what you promised. Don’t be someone who breaks his word.”
She didn’t care about anything else anymore. Sooner or later, she would leave this place far behind.
John’s eyes were dark. “If you do your part, I will do mine.”
“Alright,” Sierra said.
She left the study.
Back in the master bedroom, Sierra went into the bathroom and turned on the shower. The moment the cold water poured over her, goosebumps appeared all over her skin.
