Chapter 393
Sierra’s answer to Kenneth was to hang up.
Kenneth stared at his phone. He then turned to Robin in complete disbelief. “She actually hung up on me!
”
With a request like that, hanging up on him was the most normal reaction in the world, but Robin kept that thought to himself.
“Good thing I was smart enough to start recording as soon as she picked up,” Kenneth said.
He felt like he was wearing himself out for his best friend. John ought to count himself lucky to have a friend like him.
He pushed open the door to the private room.
The atmosphere inside was suffocating. Everyone at the table was someone reputable in their own field. Yet, no one dared to breathe too loudly with John sitting there. When they saw Kenneth come in, they all looked at him like he was their last hope.
Kenneth walked over with his phone, then sat down beside John and leaned close. He lowered his voice and whispered, “I just talked to Sierra. She made it very clear she’s not in Jade City anymore.”
John’s eyes didn’t change.
“I’m serious. If you don’t believe me, I’ll let you hear the recording,” Kenneth said.
“Who are you to her?” John’s thin lips moved. He had this look that made people want to keep their distance.
“I’m her…” Kenneth wanted to say friend, but he knew that was not exactly the right answer here. “Her husband’s friend.”
“Why would she tell you where she is when you’re just that to her?” John’s tone was unhurried. “This is her seat. Move.”
Kenneth was speechless.
He drew a deep breath, picked up a Bluetooth earpiece, pushed it into John’s ear, and quickly tapped on the call recording with Sierra.
“Mr. Gomez.”
“Have you left Jade City?”
“Yes.”
Kenneth hit pause. “You believe it now, right?”
John’s dark eyes were as deep as the abyss. He pulled the earpiece out, tossed it back to Kenneth, and

repeated himself. “Move. Don’t block her seat.”
“Can you wake up a little?” Kenneth was so angry he could hardly stand it. He had never seen anyone this stubborn. “She has already left. She’s no longer in Jade City. You can sit here until tomorrow, and she still won’t show up.”
“She promised me.” John gave only those three words.
Kenneth almost couldn’t catch his breath. He could not hit John, could not curse him out, and could not drag him away by force.
He had never met anyone this impossible.
“Robin,” John called.
Robin came in at once, his face as calm as ever. “Sir.”
John toyed with his phone. “Go wait at the door. Call me when she gets here.”
“Understood,” Robin said with a nod.
Kenneth simply stared before leaving together with Robin.
The moment the door to the private room was closed, the frown between his brows tightened into a deep furrow. “Is there something wrong with his head and with yours, too? You watched me call Sierra.”
“Earlier, Ms. Bell told the boss she had things to do today and that he didn’t need to pick her up.” Robin knew exactly what his boss was clinging to.
“And then?” Kenneth pressed.
“He won’t leave before half–past five,” Robin said.
Kenneth had nothing left to say other than cursing under his breath that John was crazy.
Since he could not talk any sense into John, he had no choice but to call Lucy.
The person on the other end was clearly busy. When she picked up, she sounded distracted. “Talk to me.”
“John has lost it,” Kenneth said, making it as dramatic as he could. “Come over and talk some sense into
