John simply tossed out a one–liner. “Why don’t you try going on a date with Eagon first?

“What does that have to do with me?” Kenneth pulled back at once and used the chance to change the subject. “But Joey… What’s he up to with all this?”

“I don’t know.” John glanced at the now empty doorway. “Maybe he wants me to help him take more of the King family’s assets, or maybe he wants to work with me on something.”

“What kind of people would team up with someone who hurt his own son?” Kenneth could not make

sense of it.

John did not explain.

Joey held little real power in the King family, and his older brother kept him suppressed. It was very hard for him to move any higher.

What he had done with Tommy was most likely a desperate gamble, a move he had made after he had already decided to ignore the risk.

“Robin,” John called out.

“Sir.” Robin nodded, ready for new orders at any moment.

“Call Solomon.” John’s gaze was deep. “Tell him I’m temporarily taking over the branch here in Harbor City. He can run the one in Jade City.”

“Understood,” Robin answered.

Since Sierra had decided to settle here, John would stay here with her for a while. He would go back whenever she was willing to go back with him.

If she never changed her mind, then he would have no choice but to resort to more forceful measures once Tommy started primary school.

“If you stay here, what are you going to do when Pamela comes looking for you?” Kenneth reminded him. “She’s not the quiet type.”

“We’ll talk about it when we cross that bridge,” John’s eyes darkened.

Pamela was already on the move at that very moment. She didn’t go to Richard, but to Sierra.

Before Sierra even got home, she received a call from an unfamiliar number. Before she could say anything, Pamela spoke first on the other end.

“I have something to talk to you about, don’t hang up.”

Sierra hung up without hesitation.

Pamela called again, then Sierra hung up again

Just as she was about to add the number to her black list, Pamela sent a text message

While Sierra hesitated, the phone rang again. After what had happened last time, Sierra was depentally alert to anything that had to do with Tommy.

“What is it?” she asked bluntly.

“Before I tell you, I want to talk to you about something first, Pamela’s tone was unusually serious

“Go ahead,” Sierra said.

Pamela blurted it out. “Get John to give me five million dollars. After that, I’ll leave Jade City for good and never return. I’ll never use what he owes me to make him do anything for me. How does that sound??

“That has nothing to do with me,” Sierra answered without hesitation.

“Do you still want to stay with him and live peacefully or not?” Pamela grew agitated.

Sierra hung up.

In that moment, she realized that Pamela mentioning Tommy was most likely just an excuse to make her listen to that outrageous demand and to try to force her to agree.
