Sierra stared with wide eyes.

Holly did, too.

“All of them are already in your name and are legally your personal property,” Robin finished.

Sierra was about to refuse. “No…”

Holly stepped in and took the documents from Robin.

After a quick look to make sure they were genuine, she glanced around. “Where are the cars?”

“They’re being shipped in from overseas,” Robin said in a serious expression. “Once the two villas next door are renovated, the cars will be parked there. Both the houses and the cars will belong to Ms. Bell personally as well.”

Then, Robin added something on purpose. “Even if you divorce Mr. Henderson, he won’t be able to take any of it.”

John shot Robin a cool look.

Was that really necessary?

Robin glanced away. He was just worried Sierra wouldn’t accept them.

Holly checked every deed and the receipts. They were already worth tens of millions. The vineyard in particular sat in a prime location, with great size and quality. It even came with its own winery.

Back when they were talking about divorce, he hadn’t wanted to give up a single cent. But now, he was giving her all this as a birthday gift.

What was going on in John’s head?

“Take them.” Holly pushed the stack back into Sierra’s hands. “He owed you this anyway, and it saves you from dealing with dividing assets when you get your divorce.”

Everything had gone through the proper procedures, so these would count as Sierra’s personal property in the divorce. No one knew why John was doing this, but since he had laid it all out in front of her, there was no reason not to take it,

Sierra looked at the thick stack of deeds and records in her hands.

“Now that I’ve given you your birthday presents, I won’t bother you any longer.” John’s lips looked a little pale as he turned slightly toward Robin. “We’re leaving.”

Robin froze.

Where to?

John’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Robin’s brain kicked into gear, and he rushed out, “We’ll be staying next door until ten thirty tonight. When you cut the birthday cake, can you please pass along a slice for Mr. Henderson? Seeing that he had given you a birthday gift?”

“You’re not going back to the hospital?” Sierra glanced at John’s chest.

“No…” Robin only got one word out when John shot him a look that stopped him cold.

Robin gulped.

John turned back to Sierra and lied without a change in his expression. “I’m going back. I will just take a look over there and then go back to the hospital.”

“He’s lying. He plans to stay until after ten tonight before leaving.” Robin took a kick to the leg, but he simply moved out of the way and kept talking. “Because…”

“Robin!” There was a warning in John’s cool voice.

For once, Robin did not stop. “Because you were born at ten thirty on the night of the twenty–sixth, and he wants to wait for that exact moment.”

Sierra’s gaze on John changed a little.

The atmosphere around him seemed to have gotten darker. He wanted Sierra to let him in, but not out of pity or worry. He wanted her to invite him in because she was satisfied with what he had done and with the gifts he had brought.

“Don’t worry, Ms. Bell. He spoke to the doctor before he left,” Robin added quickly. “The doctor said it’s fine as long as he doesn’t move around too much.”

“Come in, then,” Sierra said. She didn’t want him pushing himself.
