Cyrus was watching Anna the whole time.
The last time Cyrus had seen his own daughter was three years ago, when he first heard about her accident.
That didn’t even count, strictly speaking. He had only waited outside the hospital back then, listening to his men repor condition.
He had thought about going in, but his pride wouldn’t let him.
“Annie…” He finally voiced the name he had called in his head so many times.
Anna looked at Cyrus; their eyes met, but she felt nothing. She treated him like any stranger and gave the bare minimun King.”
Cyrus felt his chest tighten. He knew she still blamed him for what had happened back then. “When are you going to brir daughter home for a visit?”
“Home?” Anna repeated, eyebrows raised.
“I know you still care about what happened before…” Cyrus started.
“If you’re here to celebrate Sierra’s birthday, you’re welcome,” Anna cut him off. She had no interest in reminiscing or discussing the past. “If you’re here for anything else, then you can see yourself out.”
The words Cyrus had been about to say were stuck in his throat, and he didn’t speak again.
Seeing him fall quiet like that, Anna was a little surprised. She knew exactly how stubborn and hot–tempered her father wa the past, he could lecture her for ages, even if she talked back once.
With the way he used to act, he would already be thinking she didn’t know what was good for her, and that she was refusing appreciate the fact that he had lowered himself to come talk to her.
“Please, don’t stop chatting.” Anna didn’t stay. “I’ll go check on dinner and see how the preparation is going.”
For the while that followed, Sierra and Holly stayed with the two men.
Nathan and Cyrus were eager to build a good relationship with Sierra, so the conversation never slowed for the next hour. Nathan asked about her daily life one moment, while Cyrus asked about her personal life the next.
Bit by bit, the conversation ended up about her marriage to John.
“I heard things between you and John aren’t very good,” Cyrus said. He didn’t know Sierra as well as Nathan did. “Do you war me to introduce you to someone new?”
Before Sierra could answer, a low voice cut in. “Isn’t it a little shady to go after someone’s spouse, Mr. King?”
Nathan and Cyrus turned toward the stairs.
John was coming down the staircase, holding Tommy’s hand. The tall man and the smaller boy looked like they were made fro
the same mold.
Nathan and Cyrus couldn’t help but take a few extra looks.
‘So this is my daughter’s son?‘ Nathan thought to himself.
Cyrus also had a similar thought about his great–grandson.
“Hello, Grandpa Lynch.” Tominy greeted them politely “Hello, Grandpa King.”
Nathan blinked.
Chapter 426
Cyrus blinked, too.
The title and order were completely wrong, weren’t they? Since when was he on the same level as this old man?
Cyrus had the same line of thought as well.
“One of you is the ex–patriarch of the King family and the other is the current chairman of Lynch Group,” John said. He beside Sierra as if the seat belonged to him. “And yet, you two both enjoy talking about people behind their backs.”
“If you did nothing, we’d have nothing to talk about,” Nathan said. He was deeply dissatisfied with his son–in–law. Sierra was her little princess. How dare this man cheat on her?
