Cyrus had no idea that Sierra was Nathan’s daughter. He had always believed that the baby had already been aborted.

“Even if Sierra wants to go back to her roots, she’s coming back to the King family,” Cyrus said, face hard, attitude clear. “She has nothing to do with you.”

“She has my blood in her,” Nathan said.

John sat there without joining in, as he simply watched them calmly.

“What do you think? Which family should Sierra go back to?”

“For the time being, she wants neither,” John said quietly. “Do you want her to acknowledge her own roots, or do you want her to have a good life?”

Both men paused, both looked unsure.

John’s voice stayed low and steady. “If it’s the latter, then you should respect her choice instead of forcing your ideas onto her. She’s Sierra Bell, and she belongs to no one but herself.”

At that, both Nathan and Cyrus went quiet.

Maybe it was the environment they lived in, maybe it was just a habit. Without thinking, they had both assumed Sierra would make the same choices as they would.

“And you?” Nathan asked, his expression was much more serious now. “Did you respect her decision?”

John answered directly. “No.”

“Then what are you talking about?” Nathan said.

“I’m not the same as you,” John said. It was not an excuse, however. “You push your thoughts on her without even thinking. I did not.”

Sierra was the most important part of his world. If she walked away, his entire lite would tall apart. He would never let her leave until the very end. He would try every way he could to make it up to her for every pain he had caused her.

As long as she was willing to stay with him, he would force himself to accept it, even it she spent every day running around with

Nicholas.

If Robin ever heard that, he would be shocked that John had changed so much in only three months. In the past, he wanted to get rid of Nicholas the moment he saw him. Now, he was actually forcing himself to tolerate Nicholas.
