In the end, he passed the interview easily. He was extremely capable and ended up collecting two salaries, one as her bodyguard and one as her assistant.

Incidentally, he also played a big part in helping her win this project.

While she was the one responsible for saying the right things in front of those people, Marcus was the one handling the drinking through the first half of the dinner.

“All wage slaves need money,” Marcus said, looking at her sternly. “So, are you taking the bet?”

Marcus pouted for a moment before asking in a serious tone. “Do you want to take this easy?”

A hint of confusion appeared in Sierra’s eyes.

“I know a little about the kind of project you’re working on too.” Marcus only had one thing on his mind: money. All you have to do is spend a little more money each month, and you can make your life a lot easier.”

Marcus kept listing what he could do. “I can put together a full project plan and make sure they carry it out efficiently.”

“It’s fine.” Sierra turned him down without hesitation. “The product manager and the director of research and development will handle it.”

“It will take at least a month just to settle the overall framework with their pacing,” Marcus said, his tone unchanged. “I can give you a complete plan in two weeks.”

“No need.” Sierra cut him off. “Do it and show me what you’re capable of first.”

Either he was bluffing or he had worked on a large medical system like this before. Otherwise, two weeks was simply impossible.

A hint of doubt appeared on Marcus’s usually unreadable face, and his brows furrowed together.

Sierra noticed and asked directly, “Is there a problem?”

“You’re trying to get free work out of me,” Marcus said, enunciating every word.
