“No need to thank me,” Solomon said as he looked at Robin. “Just get John to give me the CEO position at Henderson Group.”

Robin kept his tone polite. “You must be joking. If a single word from me could do that, I would’ve asked the boss for a huge payout ages ago and gone home to retire.”

“Then you can tell me about all the mistakes John’s made over the years,” Solomon said.

“Mr. Henderson doesn’t make mistakes,” Robin replied.

Solomon chuckled. “I’ll pay you double. Come work for me.”

“Sure,” Robin said.

Solomon was momentarily caught off guard. A hint of surprise crossed his eyes. He clearly had not expected that

answer.

Before Solomon could think it through, Robin finished the rest.

“Anyone in Henderson Group can be assigned wherever the CEO wants. You’re treating me very well by giving me a chance to get double pay for doing the same work.”

Solomon laughed softly.

Robin really was something.

Sierra watched Solomon’s car drive away. Even after it disappeared from view, she still stood there without moving.

“Sierra.” Anna walked over and called her name.

“Mom…” Sierra had to admit she could not just stand by and watch John die. If his condition were not serious, Solomon would not have come here. “I want to go to Jade City.”

She couldn’t forget how well he had treated her, but she also couldn’t forget all the pain. Even so, she could not make herself watch him die.

“Then go.” Anna respected every choice Sierra made. “Tommy’s going to be fine with me.”

Sierra did not even eat breakfast before heading to the airport with Marcus. She looked occupied as her mind was already full of everything Solomon had said to her before boarding.

“Get some sleep,” Marcus said after they boarded the plane. “I’ll wake you up when we’re about to land,”

“It’s fine,” Sierra shook her head.

“You probably don’t want to pass out before you even see Mr. Henderson,” Marcus said.

Sierra kept looking at her phone. “It’s not that serious.”

“You haven’t had more than three days of proper rest during this period. You’ve gone to five dinner gatherings and gotten drunk five times.” Marcus calmly listed out what had happened recently. “You’ve worked overtime thirteen times and pulled three all–nighters.”

Sierra fell silent.

Marcus went on, “With the way your health looks right now, one more drink and one more sleepless night will be enough to make you pass out.”

“I’ll sleep.” Sierra realized her schedule that past month really had been a mess. She set down her phone, closed her eyes, and went to sleep. “Wake me up fifteen minutes before we land.”

Marcus answered like a machine. “Got it.”

Sierra really was exhausted. It did not take long for her to fall fast asleep.

Marcus handled the first half, and she handled the second half of the dinner gatherings that month. Even though she had prepared ahead of time and done all the research she needed, she still could not avoid drinking completely.

After several of those dinners, her limit had gone from three drinks to five. But at those same dinners, she had seen the many facets of human nature.

About two hours later, Sierra arrived in Jade City. She would be lying if she said she felt nothing as she looked at the city where she had grown up once again.

“Ms. Bell.” Marcus had arranged for a car ahead of time, so the moment they got off the plane, he automatically took the driver’s seat.
