“We won’t use you and then toss you aside. I swear on my character,” Kenneth swore quickly as he met Sierra’s eyes.

“Neither of them has any character to speak of.” Marcus’s face stayed as blank as ever, and his tone was completely flat. “I heard them talking behind your back just now.”

Sierra turned to look at Marcus.

Marcus then added, “For your own safety, we should go back to Harbor City.”

“It’s not that serious.” Sierra walked over, her voice softer than usual. “I’ve already talked it over with Kenneth. You don’t need to worry.”

Marcus answered for Sierra. “Did you sign a contract with my boss?”

Kenneth shook his head. “No.”

Marcus then bluntly said, “Anything that isn’t written down in black and white is meaningless. We’ll have no proof if you go back on your word later.”

Kenneth blinked then pointed at himself. “My character should be trustworthy enough, right?”

“Before you teamed up with John to trick me into selling that ring, yes.” Sierra said exactly what she thought. Now, I can’t trust you.”

Marcus gave him no time to think and said, “If you don’t agree, we won’t force you. It’s important that this is done willingly.”

“If I don’t agree, are you still staying?” Kenneth asked Sierra.

“She won’t. I’ll take her away without hesitation.” Marcus knew exactly how an assistant should protect his boss from liability, so he shifted the responsibility to himself without pause. “If she refuses to leave, I’ll knock her out and carry her off.”

Kenneth froze again, and Robin did too.

The two of them looked at Sierra at the same time, as if asking whether she was sure that she wanted to keep a bodyguard this dangerous by her side.

Marcus then urged him. “You have thirty seconds left to decide. If there’s no contract, then we’ll leave.”

Kenneth’s mind was instantly filled with questions.

Why did he have to sign this contract? He was just a friend!

“You should just sign it,” Robin said, enjoying the show. “If you make any loss, Mr. Henderson will generously make it up to you.”
