Chapter 560
“Call the doctor for me,” John said to Kenneth as he lay back down on the bed. No one knew what he was thinking
Kenneth went at once.
Before long, Dr. Jackson, John’s attending physician, arrived. He wore a white coat, and his gentle expression made him look kind and mild.
He walked to the bedside and asked, “Mr. Gomez said you were asking for me?”
“How long until I can be discharged?” John asked.
“At least a week.” Dr. Jackson was in his thirties, and his medical skills were top notch. “If you want to fully recover, that depends on how well you cooperate.”
“Got it.” John kept his emotions in check.
Kenneth waited outside the room. When Dr. Jackson came out, he immediately glanced inside and asked, “How is it?”
“He only asked how long until he can be discharged,” Dr. Jackson replied.
“You didn’t take the chance to persuade him to get psychological treatment?”
Kenneth had always cared deeply about that. Back then, it was because of what had happened in John’s youth. Now, it was because of everything those old wounds had caused.
“This is probably when he’ll be most mentally vulnerable,” he added.
“If he isn’t willing, I still can’t get into his inner world even when he is vulnerable.” A trace of worry appeared on Dr. Jackson’s expression as he frowned. “His self–control is too strong, so strong that he can force even psychological problems back down.”
But the result was that his self–control kept pushing the problem down until it finally exploded. That was what had led to the loss of appetite, the insomnia, and everything else. When those two intense feelings clashed, his body was the only thing that paid the price.
“But his condition is pretty good today,” Dr. Jackson added. “He isn’t being so uptight.”
“Because Sierra came.” Kenneth knew exactly why John had changed. “Most of what’s weighing on him comes from her.”
The psychological issues from his youth had mostly shown up as an obsession with keeping promises. Over the years, things had been relatively manageable except when Pamela was getting involved.
But Sierra… She was different. In his heart, he wanted to love her and be with her. Sierra, meanwhile, only wanted to keep her
distance.
That was what had caused the conflict inside him and led to all of this.
“Could we ask Ms. Bell to come over?” Dr. Jackson had not had much contact with Sierra, but most people in the hospital knew about her relationship with John. “With her help, Mr. Henderson might recover sooner.”
“You’re wrong,” Kenneth said.
Dr. Jackson looked puzzled.
Kenneth answered plainly. “If she’s around, John will be even less willing to show what’s inside his heart.
It was the first time Dr. Jackson had been confused by something like this. “Why?”

“Because he can’t bear to let the person down, he cares the most about him.” Kenneth explained it in another way. “Go on back to work. I’ll talk to him again.”

Dr. Jackson said nothing else and left.
Kenneth walked to the ward, but just as his hand was about to touch the door, he paused.
Asking Sierra to come persuade John to accept psychological treatment probably would not work. But having her come more otten and spend more time with him might work better than any treatment. After all, no doctor could compare to the one person who could solve it all.
With that thought in mind, he took out his phone and sent Sierra a message. [Are you free this afternoon?]
At that same moment, Sierra had just arrived outside Campanile Estate. As the car drove through the estate’s iron gate, the luxury car behind them drove in too. The bodyguards assumed they were together as they did not know any better.
It was not until their car stopped in the garage that the car behind them stopped as well.
Sierra looked at John’s parents as they stepped out of the car.
Without even greeting them, she said to Marcus, “Show them out. If they won’t leave, have the bodyguards escort them out.”
