Chapter 561
“What kind of attitude is that?” Agnes snapped at Sierra immediately, her expression dark. “Is that how the Bell family taught you any manners?”
Sierra said nothing and simply shot Marcus a look.
Before Marcus could make a move, Danny said, “What Agnes said was a little harsh, so don’t take it too seriously. We came to see you about something important.”
Sierra did not believe they had anything important to say. Setting aside all their past conflicts, what she had heard yesterday and what Kenneth had told her made it impossible for her to speak to either of them calmly.
“What is your relationship with Harbor City’s King family and the Lynch family?” Danny asked bluntly.
“Why are you asking?” Sierra met his eyes, her expression even colder and more distant than before.
Danny glanced around. “Can we go inside and talk?”
“No.” Sierra refused without hesitation. “We’re not close enough for me to invite you into my home. You can say whatever you want to say here.”
When she was going to marry John back in the day, they had done everything they could to stop it and had never bothered to hide how much they disliked her. If John had not protected her, they would have made her life miserable during those five years.
“Don’t you think this attitude of yours toward those older than you is a little inappropriate?” Danny’s expression darkened. “No matter what, we were still once your in–laws.”
“When you fought me for Tommy’s custody, didn’t you say we’re severing our relationship?” Sierra held grudges, and she remembered every bit of it.
Danny stared at her, his eyes sharp. Meanwhile, Agnes looked at her with a mean look. Neither of them liked her, but they wanted to get close because of who she was now.
“We were indeed a little too impulsive back then.” Danny said, rarely swallowing his anger like this. “We were worried Tommy would not be able to live a good life with you. If we had known your grandfather was Cyrus King and your father was Nathan Lynch, then we would have given you Tommy’s custody even if you had said nothing.”
Sierra only looked at them. She could not understand why Danny was trying to make peace with her.
Even if she admitted her ties to the King family and the Lynch family, what then? After everything that had happened, there was no chance she would ever want to have a good relationship with them.
So why had they come all this way and swallowed their pride to see her?
“Why didn’t you tell us about your relationship with the King family and the Lynch family back then?” Danny went on. “If you had, we would have made your wedding much grander.”
“Anything else?” Sierra had no interest in small talk.
Danny’s expression stiffened. He had not expected the brat still would not show him any respect even after lowering himself like this.
So what if she was connected to the King family and the Lynch family? They had still raised a girl with no manners!
“If that’s all, then I have something to ask you.” Sierra let her eyes pass over both of them. “I heard that back then, you threw him into the ocean and the river to make John learn how to swim.”
“Yes”
Damy admitted it without hesitation.
Sierra looked at him. “Were you not afraid he might drown?”
