Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 584

Tammy opened Maxwell's profile on his social media. There were no posts at all.

"Thank you."

Tammy had said those words more than anything else that night.

She handed the phone back to Sierra.

"I'm not going to add him as a friend. It'd be weird to send a friend request after all these years without any contact. He might think I'm trying to borrow money or ask him for a wedding gift."

Hearing that, Sierra could guess that there was probably a lot of history between them. However, she respected other people's boundaries, so she did not ask her about it.

Sierra slept well that night.

Tammy, on the other hand, did not sleep much. For one moment, she would dream that she could not escape Solomon's control. The next, she dreamed about Maxwell, whom she had not seen in years.

While being haunted by all kinds of emotions, she picked up her phone and opened the browser. She typed Maxwell's name into the search bar. Article after article about his achievements filled the screen. The latest said he had secured a multinational partnership.

She tapped one of the photos.

Maxwell wore a tailored suit in the photo. His nose, tall and pointed, made him look even more mature than he had a few years ago.

Ever since they parted, she had stopped paying attention to anything about him. She had avoided everything connected to him on purpose, all to keep her feelings in check and to stop herself from sprouting any more feelings after she had already snuffed it all with her own hands years ago.

But this time, she failed.

Before she knew it, morning had come.

As soon as Sierra got up, she saw Tammy sitting on the couch downstairs, looking faintly tired. Even with some light makeup on, she could not hide the red in her eyes.

"I should head back." Tammy stood up. Gratitude and something more complicated flickered in her eyes as she looked at Sierra. "Thank you for last night. I'll treat you to a meal sometime."

"If you go back now, Solomon will probably be able to tell you were up all night," Sierra said.

"It's fine," Tammy replied.

Sierra raised her brow. She had not expected Tammy to suddenly sound so hopeful.

"You were right. I was the one forcing myself into a corner." Tammy suddenly wanted to try. "I'm going back to have a real talk with Solomon."

"As someone with some self-awareness, I know my memory is not good enough to be able to recall that much dialogue, so I only kept the important parts," Joey said in the same lazy tone.

Sierra asked, "Why did you not record it on your phone?"

Joey praised her. "You really would make such a good detective."

Sierra blinked.

Joey replied at an unhurried pace, "If I lit up my phone screen in the dark, I might as well have told them I was eavesdropping and asked them to come find me."

Sierra pointed out the obvious. "They found you, anyway."

Joey paused before glancing at Skyler, who was working earnestly beside him. Skyler looked up. "What?"

Skyler's face stayed blank at the time.

Joey waved a hand at him. A teasing smile appeared on his young face as he kept talking to Sierra. "You really are my cousin. Your mind works fast."
