Joey ended the call with Sierra after two minutes. For once, a rare hint of seriousness showed on his usually calm face. Skyler took the initiative to help his boss out. “What is it?”

Joey rubbed his chin and thought it over. “When I was eavesdropping on my uncle, why didn’t it occur to me to record them on my phone? If I was going to get caught anyway, wouldn’t a recording have been an even better proof?”

Skyler said nothing.

Joey looked at him. “You didn’t think of it either, did you?”

Skyler gave him a gentle reminder. “When you were eavesdropping, you didn’t expect to get caught.”

Joey thought about it carefully. “That makes sense.”

Skyler lowered his head and went back to work. By this point, he was used to his boss randomly going stupid like this.

Meanwhile, after Sierra hung up her call with Joey, she kept thinking about what had happened to Anna. The fact that Joey could not clearly remember the conversation meant he might have misunderstood something while only hearing part of it. And from what she had seen, Maxwell seemed like a fairly decent man.

With that in mind, she decided she would investigate the matter again after she got back to Harbor City.

Before doing anything else, she sent Tammy a message. “Are you there yet?”

Tammy replied almost instantly. “Just got here.”

Tammy looked at the villa she had lived in for the past three years. She took a deep breath and strengthened herself before walking inside.

What she did not know was that after meeting with John the night before, Solomon had never gone upstairs to rest. He had sat on the couch waiting for her the entire time, and he had even turned his phone volume all the way up.

The moment he saw her come back, Solomon switched his phone to silent.

“At least you know how to make your way back.”

His first words were cold and heavy. His dark eyes behind those glasses were slightly red because he had not slept the whole night.

Tammy walked over and stopped in front of him, thinking about how to bring up what she really wanted to say.

Solomon’s eyes looked at the dark coat she was wearing. He reached out and pulled her into his lap before starting to take off her coat. “Did you forget what I told you before?”

“These are Sierra’s clothes.” Tammy raised a hand to stop him.

“I don’t want to repeat myself.” Solomon’s tone stayed calm, but a sharp chill ran beneath it Tammy forced down her feelings. “Alright

opstairs and change

She didn’t argue with him. No matter what she said, Solomon would not listen. It would be better to change into the light colored clothes he liked, then talk to him slowly

Ten minutes later, Tammy came back downstairs.

When Solomon saw the cream colored hand knitted top she was wearing some of the cute es around his da

Solomon slipped his hand under her sweater. The brush of his rough fingers against her skin sent a shiver through her. “Not talking?”

“I want to talk to you.” Tammy had to gather all her courage just to say those words.

Even though she had spent the whole ride preparing herself, she still did not dare push too hard under the weight of his presence now that she was in his arms.

“Tammy, don’t say anything that will make me unhappy.” Solomon lightly pinched her waist before continuing, “I did not ask why you pretended to pass out or why you ignored my messages. Don’t make this unpleasant for yourself.”

Tammy froze.

He knew.

“You want to talk to me because Sierra said something to you and made you think you can stand up against me again?” Solomon mercilessly exposed exactly what she was thinking

He knew very well what kind of woman he had kept by his side for the past three years. She had only spent one night away from him, and she already wanted to talk the moment she came back. He could not think of any other reason other than Sierra putting ideas in her head.

A chill ran down Tammy’s spine. “How did you know I only pretended to pass out?”
