Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 597

"He talks too much," Marcus fired back at Tony without hesitation when he begged to come along with Sierra. "If you keep him around, you'll never have a moment of peace ever again."

"Nonsense!" Tony immediately fought for himself. "I'm a very perceptive bodyguard. When you're upset or weighed down, I'll help you sort things out. I won't make your life miserable like he says."

"He's lying to you," Marcus said.

Tony pointed at his face. "Look at how serious I am."

Marcus glanced at him.

Tony glared right back.

The two of them clearly could not stand each other.

Sierra noticed the way they were going at it. After thinking it over, she asked, "If I take you with me, what exactly can you do?"

"My brain works fast. If you run into someone you don't like, I can deal with them for you," Tony said as he did his sales pitch. "Most importantly, I'm a better driver than Marcus. I can handle any emergency."

Sierra looked at Marcus. He did not argue, which meant Tony was telling the truth.

"Alright." She decided to give him a shot. "You can drive from now on."

Marcus blinked. "Miss."

Sierra looked up. "Yes?"

Marcus reminded her with complete seriousness, "My job is bodyguard, assistant, and driver."

"I know." Sierra handed the file to him. "Your pay stays the same."

"Understood."

Tony blinked. He immediately sensed something was off. "What do you mean, his pay stays the same? Is Marcus getting paid for more than just being a bodyguard?"

Marcus rarely lied, but this time he did. "No."

Tony started the car, suspicion filling his eyes.

Something was definitely off.

Weren't they talking about Tony? How did the topic land on him instead?

Amid the casual bickering, Sierra arrived at Medicare. When everyone saw she was back, they all greeted her.

Sierra looked around, said a few simple words, then got straight to the point. "Half an hour from now, I want the technical director, the product manager, human resource, and the heads of the other tech teams in the conference room."

"Got it," everyone answered.

The meeting lasted a little over half an hour.

Firstly, she told them they had signed up for a new project. Secondly, she asked each team to estimate how many more people they would need if both projects were to move forward at the same time, so hiring could begin.

After all, they did not have enough staff to handle a major project like the one in Middleton City, the city next to Jade City.

By the time the meeting ended, it was already half-past ten in the morning. Sierra had planned to ask when everyone was available so she could divide up the work on the new project in detail, but before she could say anything, her phone rang.

She looked at the number from Harbor City on the screen and answered, "Hello, who's this?"

"It's me." Charlie's steady voice came through the phone. After a few days to cool off, he had finally swallowed the anger Nathan had stirred up in him. "Your Uncle Charlie."
