Charlie had to consider both their own safety and benefits. There was no point in losing one’s life after getting their hands on the wealth, or vice versa.
“Alright.” Loren understood Charlie’s concerns and did not press his father. “But don’t take too long to think it over. We need time to set everything up.”
Charlie’s eyes darkened. “I know.”
Loren stood up and headed for the door.
Charlie looked at his back and asked, “Will John find out about this?”
“No.” Loren would plan everything carefully before making a move and built in several layers of separation. “At most, he’ll find out that the branch family has a problem with Sierra existing. He will not be able to trace it back to us.”
“Good.” Charlie felt slightly relieved.
More than forty minutes later, Sierra arrived at King Group.
After parking the car, Tony thoughtfully opened the door for her and even made a gentlemanly gesture. “Miss, we have arrived.”
Marcus scoffed. “Show–off.”
Tony rolled his eyes as Sierra stepped out. “You just don’t get it. This is called being ceremonious.”
Sierra blinked.
Were they really arguing over something like this?
It was as if Marcus had flipped some strange switch inside his brain the moment Tony joined them. “Miss is our boss now, and a boss should come across as serious and capable.”
“What’s with the stereotype?” Tony looked pleased with himself as he closed the door behind Sierra. “Being our boss is a status, not a personality.”
Sierra glanced at him.
Tony immediately took the opening. “Right, Miss?”
Sierra mumbled something in agreement.
Marcus’s brow furrowed slightly. It was as if he had just discovered something alarming. Ever since Tony had joined what used to be his fixed group–up with Sierra, she no longer doted on him the way she used to.
“Miss.” Marcus was the kind of man who was blunt with the truth. His dark eyes were full of sincerity. “I have discovered one of your flaws.”
Sierra glanced at him with a side–eye. “What flaw?”
Marcus answered with complete seriousness. “You are very easy to fool.”
Sierra blinked. Twice.
Marcus then explained himself. “Tony has only been your driver for half a day, and you already trust and approve
of him. That’s wrong.”

“That’s ridiculous,” Tony smoothly cut in, sounding perfectly natural. “She appreciates me because I’m a good, trustworthy man. Those two months as a bodyguard were the evaluation period. This half day as her driver is her getting to know me better.”
“Exactly,” Sierra said.
Marcus looked at her, his eyes seemingly saying, ‘See? You instinctively take his side.‘
For some reason, Sierra understood exactly what he meant. Since she didn’t know how to answer, she changed the subject. “Let’s go upstairs. We can talk about this later.”
The words had barely left her mouth when a plainly dressed middle–aged man charged at them.
“It was you! You ran over my son and killed him! I don’t care how rich or how influential you are. I’m going to get justice for my son!”
He swung a knife straight at Sierra.
It all happened fast, but that did not stop the nearby passersby from pulling out their phones and crowding around to watch.
“Dad!” Tony reacted instantly and stepped in front of him. With a quick twist, he knocked the knife out of the man’s hand. “Didn’t I tell you to stay home to rest? Why did you come out again?”
The middle–aged man was stunned.
The people in the crowd who had been ready to jump in and play along were stunned, too.
Sierra froze.
“If you keep this up, I’ll have no choice but to send you back to the psychiatric hospital.” Tony pinned his wrist and gave him no chance to move. “Even if Mom and my sister cry and beg me later on, I won’t ever let you out again.”
“Who are you calling Dad?” After being pinned down for a full minute, the middle–aged man finally snapped out of it. “Let go of me!”
“When you forced me to let him out, didn’t you say you would keep an eye on him?” Tony looked toward a middle- aged woman and a young woman in her twenties standing in the crowd. “This is how you’re taking care of him?”
“We…” The two of them stammered.
They looked at each other. Only one thought filled their heads.
Who is he? Do we know him?
“If he really did hurt someone, the two of you would pay the price! You’ll be held responsible for watching him, even if his mental illness keeps him out of prison!” Tony’s tone turned especially stern. “Why are you still standing there? Take him back already!”
