Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 612

"Solomon," John started over the phone. It was rare for him to decide to be so straightforward with Solomon. "If you want to be our father's good son, I won't stop you. If you want to court Sierra, I'll assume you've lost your mind, but stay out of her work."

Again, Solomon could not understand what his younger brother was thinking. If someone set their sights on Tammy, even if it was only for show, he would do everything he could to get that person out of the way out of sheer rejection.

But John...

"Don't you love her?" Solomon asked.

"I do." John admitted.

"And this is all the reaction you have?" Solomon asked. "Wouldn't me courting Sierra make you angrier than me messing with her career?"

"If you court her, all you'll get is rejection," John said bluntly. "A man like you, irresponsible and cowardly, is exactly the kind of man she hates most."

Solomon did not get angry, but simply asked, "What about you? Did she ever love a man who is as responsible and brave as you?"

"She did," John answered.

Solomon let out a quiet laugh. "I didn't expect you to be this good at lying to yourself."

"She loves me," John said with absolute certainty. "Love and hate can exist at the same time."

Solomon went still.

John pressed on. "Have you ever felt that from Tammy?"

Solomon's grip on the phone tightened. He knew that Tammy had never liked him. Everything she showed him was just for her own benefit.

"Anything else?" John asked when he noticed Robin hesitating, his eyes shifting back and forth.

"What about Solomon's side?" Robin asked carefully. He wished he could lighten his boss's load, but was afraid of making a mistake that would backfire. "Do you need me to prepare anything else in case something changes in Jade City?"

"Forde and Lance will handle it," John said.

Robin felt a little relieved. "Understood."

Sierra knew nothing about any of this. She stayed busy with work. Over the next few days, she went to the office as usual and wrapped up all the arrangements for the project in Middleton City. Once that was done, her schedule finally stopped being so tight.

From then on, all she had to do was keep an eye on the progress and, after the project was finished, have all sides sign off on the inspection so the final payment could be settled.

That day, Sierra had just gotten off work. Before she and Marcus could even reach the car, two bodyguards walked up to her. Their attitude was very polite when they said, "Ms. Bell, our boss' employer is inviting you to pay him a visit."
