“pock his pay,” Marcus suddenly said.
Sierra was still thinking, so her reply came out casual. “Why?”
“A bodyguard and driver shouldn’t get himself involved in this kind of matter,” Marcos explained.
Sierra looked confused as Tony snapped back, “What about when you do it?”
“I’m a personal assistant, which means I’m allowed to get involved,” Marcus said.
“I’m a secretary!” Tony said.
“She never hired you for the position and you never finished with the hiring process,” Marcus said matter-of-factly.
“Miss, give me a secretary position! I don’t need a salary! You can use me for free!” Tony said.
“The phrase ‘use me for free’ is vague,” Marcus said seriously. “If someone with bad intentions heard that, they would think she has a messy private life.”
Sierra fell silent as she tuned the two of them out.
They could have so many fights a day that she was used to it by now, but it still affected her mood a little when they started with something serious and somehow ended up like this again.
Sometimes it really felt like she was raising two three-year-olds.

Chapter 616
Sierra picked up her phone and went back to the work messages she had not finished answering. After wrapping things up with the product manager and technical director, she looked at Marcus and Tony again.
Over the past two days, she had received the files on both of them. Everything looked clean and it showed that they were just two ordinary people looking for work.
But after spending this much time with them, the way they saw things and the calm way they handled everything still made her suspicious about who they really were.
Marcus was so calm he almost seemed like an android, while Tony knew so much that he felt like a walking encyclopedia.
“Tony.” Sierra decided to test him again.
“You rang, miss?” Tony had a way with words that made everything sound like a drama.
“You said earlier that ninety-five percent of the way Daniel looked at me was about benefits,” Sierra said. “How could you tell? Say whatever that’s in your mind.”
Tony glanced at the man in the passenger seat. “Mr. Marcus, the personal assistant, said bodyguards and drivers aren’t allowed to interfere in things like this.”
“Aren’t you also working as a free secretary?” Sierra asked.
Tony blinked. As he stopped at the red light, he turned and looked at her in disbelief.
Sierra’s expression did not change. As always, she looked completely calm. “What?”
“Marcus is a bad influence on you,” Tony said. “The old you would’ve at least offered me a salary. You wouldn’t really use me for
free.”
Sierra said nothing. If she answered that, she would have to pay/him. Tony seemed even more complicated than Marcus, so she still needed time to understand him.
“You really have changed.” Tony lamented dramatically. “If this were the old you, you’d say you weren’t using me for free, and if I could handle the secretary job, you’d pay me.”
“When my business gets bigger later, I’ll save the secretary position for you,” Sierra said. She had learned how to paint a nice picture. “For now, let’s talk about the serious matter.”
Tony and Marcus exchanged a look. The same thought flashed through both their eyes at once. Sierra had not let herself get led completely off track after all.

Sierra noticed at once. “Is there a problem?”
“You’ve improved again,” Marcus said in his usual matter-of-fact tone. “A few days ago, you would’ve followed Tony’s rhythm without realizing it. By the time you remembered what you actually wanted to ask, a lot of time would’ve passed. But today, you brought everything back on track even after talking this long,”
Tony gave her a thumbs-up. “As expected of our boss!”
Sierra did not react much. “I’ll take the compliment. Can we talk about the serious matter now?”
Tony had pulled the conversation off course the last few times and she had instinctively followed him. As she laid awake in bed that night thinking it through, making sure it would not happen again the next time they talked
But Tony really was good at controlling the flow of a conversation. Even though she had been watching it on purpose, it still took several tries before she managed what she had done today.
“That came from the little psychology and microexpression reading I know,” Tony said, his tone mostly unchanged. “I watched

Daniel very carefully while he was talking to you.”
Sierra did not quite believe him. Even if he really knew those things, he should not have sounded that certain. His expression and attitude felt more like he was completely sure of what he was saying. She even suspected Tony had already seen through Daniel’s real reason for calling her over.
“Watch longer next time,” Sierra said without explaining further. “Try to gather more information from him.”
“As you command,” Tony replied to Sierra like the drama queen he was
