Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 621

"It was probably better for us not to lose them back there," Tony said to Sierra as they got close to the hospital. He had been fooling around so long that even he had let his guard down.

Sierra looked puzzled, and so did Marcus.

"We weren't doing anything top secret anyway," Tony said, unusually serious. "If they wanted to follow us, we should have let them. I have good reflexes and my driving is top-notch anyway. I could've kept both of you safe no matter what they do."

Sierra thought it over. It was just as Tony had said.

"Now they all know you have a bodyguard with great driving skills. They probably won't waste time on that again. They'll switch to something else after this most likely," Tony said like it had already happened.

Sierra and Marcus exchanged a glance with each other and came to the same conclusion.

He was taking the long way around to praise himself again.

What he had shown earlier was nowhere near enough to surprise anyone. Even taxi drivers in Harbor City and Jade City could have done that. It would not have left much of an impression.

"Miss, have you thought about making me your all-purpose bodyguard?" Tony asked in a bright, cheerful tone. "Just double my salary and make me Marcus's captain, and you'll get the perfect bodyguard."

Sierra ignored him and lowered her head to read the messages from the technical director and the others.

Tony still would not give up. "You really won't think about it? I'm very capable. You definitely won't lose money paying me a little more. I guarantee I'm worth it. You'll be completely satisfied with your choice!"

"Not docking your pay for bothering her while she's working is already quite merciful on her part," Marcus said, annoyed with Tony as usual. "If you keep talking at the wrong time, I'll shut you up myself."

Tony gritted his teeth. He knew Marcus was the kind of person who would do that. So what if he could fight? Tony was going to bring more than a dozen guys and beat him up one of these days.

Sierra was already used to their daily bickering. After they got to the hospital, she got out and went inside with them. As they headed for the elevators, someone nearly ran into her.

There was a bang, and the man hit the arm Marcus had extended in front of Sierra. He apologized immediately. Wearing a suit made him look calm, at least. "I'm sorry."

"I'm here for work," Sierra answered.

Cedric gave her a knowing look. "Are you a doctor?"

Sierra stayed calm. "No. I'm here for something else. What about you?"

"I'm here on business too." Cedric stayed courteous. He did not look much older than Nathan from his face, but by social hierarchy, he belonged to the older generation. "When you have time, let's have a meal together."

"Sure." Sierra knew it was only polite talk.

Cedric left with the suited man who had nearly bumped into her and he did not look back.

Tony crossed his arms and watched them go with his usual lazy expression. Then he started analyzing the situation again. "How come I never knew he had business here?"
