Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 624

Cedric's expression slowly returned to normal as he listened to Nathan's threats. "Is it, now?"

Nathan's presence was intimidating. "You know it best, don't you? You had a taste of it."

"I'm getting old, so my memory isn't what it used to be," Cedric said. "All I know is that you can't do whatever you want now the way you used to."

"And you know that too?" Nathan stayed unnervingly calm.

"Back then, you and Anna were unbeatable. No matter what I did, the two of you always found a way to handle it." As Cedric spoke, he glanced toward Sierra and Anna. "But things are different now. You have weak spots."

Nathan knew exactly what he meant. "You mean Sierra."

"Not just Sierra. Anna too." Cedric did not mind saying it outright. "I heard she spent years lying unconscious in a hospital bed. Is she still as capable as she used to be, I wonder?"

Nathan answered plainly. "No."

Cedric almost chuckled, "Then that..."

"But she crushing you is still more than enough," Nathan cut in.

Cedric glanced at him. "You're still the same. You won't admit defeat, not even in words. Forget Anna. What about Sierra and that boy? How much can you protect them by yourself?"

Nathan was about to get serious and show Cedric the difference between them when he noticed someone in a costume walking toward the lawn. Robin and Kenneth were right behind him.

Almost at once, Nathan could already guess the person inside the bulky costume was John. No one else could make Robin and Kenneth follow behind him.

"They don't need my protection." An idea came to Nathan, and he tipped his chin toward John. "The man over there probably wouldn't appreciate me taking his job."

Cedric followed his gaze.

When he did not see anyone important, he frowned.

Who?

"Come on. I'll introduce you." Nathan was capable, true, but he had always been brash since he was young. "That way, if someone comes after you later, at least you'll know who it was."

His plan was simple too. Let John and Cedric go after each other.

One was a shameless scumbag while the other was disgusting trash. If he set them against each other, he could save himself the trouble of dealing with two major problems at once and get rid of a huge threat to his daughter.

"Are you admitting your limits?" John's voice came through the costume, slightly muffled.

Nathan turned his eyes on him.

John continued, "Don't worry. I'll protect my wife and child."

"As the president of Henderson Group, you should have some dignity," Nathan said. "My daughter is single now. Divorced. Unmarried."

John stayed calm and unhurried. "I don't remember Sierra ever saying she had a father named Nathan Lynch."

Everyone there could hear the hostility in their voices.
