“Tell the people in Harbor City to keep an eye of Sierra’s safety from now on,” John said to Robin. “Report anything unusual to me right away.”

Robin lit up at once. “Got it.”

John continued, “Have them keep a close watch of Charlie, Peter, and Cedric too.”

“Understood,” Robin nodded.

John gave a quiet nod back.

Robin finally felt relieved. John was finally stepping back into Sierra’s affairs, just like before.

“Sir, are you going to start courting Ms. Bell again?” Lance, who had been trying his best to stay invisible, finally spoke up. There was a hint of excitement in his eyes. “Do you want me or Forde protecting her in secret?”

John looked at him. He did not say a word, but the pressure coming from him was more than enough. The grin on Lance’s face vanished at once.

“Go back to Jade City tomorrow and turn in your resignation.” John’s voice was cold. “You’re fired.”

Lance’s head snapped up.

Robin froze too.

He hurried to speak up for Lance. They had

together for years, after all. “Sir, Lance just got carried away for a second.”

“Please don’t fire me! I made a mistake,” a cooke fast and did not try to argue. “I’ll make it up to you. I’ll go protect Ms. Bell

in secret and make sure nobody harasses her.”

John asked nonchalantly, “Can you

Robin frantically signaled at him at ho

bodyguard Marcus?”

with his eyes, but Lance did not notice. “I can.”

John then laid down the terms for him. “Then go and fight him. If you win, I’ll let what happened today slide. If you lose, go back and put in your resignation yourself.”

“I guarantee I’ll get it done.” Lance was bursting with confidence.

As the best bodyguard by John’s side, handling another bodyguard should have been easy.

John said nothing more as he walked off to find Sierra.

Robin finally could not hold it in anymore. Looking at Lance, he said, “Are you stupid? You should’ve just admitted your mistake and apologized properly. Why would you agree to that?”

“It’s fine.” Lance still had not realized how serious this was. “I can handle it.”

Robin did not spare his pride. “No, you can’t.”

“I can,” Lance said.

“No, you really can’t,” Robin said as he shook his head.

Lance was full of confidence. “You know what I can do. Forget one. Even if there were two, I could still take them down.”‘

“Last time at the hospital, he took Kenneth and me down without even trying.” Robin had not wanted to bring up something that embarrassing, but after knowing Lance this long, he still felt he had to warn him.

“That just means you two are weak,” Lance said. “Isn’t that normal? Professional work should be left to professionals.”

Robin was very good at his job, but his fighting skills were average. Kenneth was even less worth mentioning

Robin said nothing. He did not bother wasting his breath on Lance anymore. If someone insisted on asking for trouble, then so be it. When Lance was defeated and still ended up fired, he would know what real regret felt like.

“Alright.” Robin looked at him. “Do your best.”

“Don’t worry.” Lance was still full of confidence.

He looked around and spotted Marcus standing beside Sierra, and immediately ran over. When he was right in front of John and Sierra, he said, “Ms. Bell, I need to talk to your bodyguard Marcus about something. Can I borrow him for a minute?”

Sierra looked at Marcus.

Marcus refused. “No.”

Lance asked, “Why not?”

“I need to protect my employer,” Marcus said.

“She won’t be in any danger when there are so many people here. Besides, my boss is here too.” Lance tried to talk him into it. I won’t take much of your time. Ten minutes at most.”
