Marcus turned to look at John, but John's expression did not change.

"When there is no danger, your boss is the biggest danger," Marcus said in a serious tone.

Tony, who was not that far away, nearly rolled to the floor laughing when he heard that. Other than Sierra, Marcus really used his sharp tongue on everyone the same way without bias.

Lance looked like he wanted to say something, but held it back.

John's expression stayed the same, but he spoke to Sierra. "Lance probably has something urgent to discuss with him."

"Go ahead." Sierra did not mind. "Nothing's going to happen here."

Marcus kept the same serious look on his face. "Miss."

Sierra looked at him. "Yeah?"

Marcus glanced at John with a hint of emotions in his eyes and said, "You trust your ex-husband too much. That's not good."

Sierra blinked.

"Before the divorce, it was all the poetry you've ever heard. Now, it could be all the autopsy reports you've ever read instead." Marcus said, treating everyone with equal suspicion. "I'll have Tony stay here with you. He may be useless, but he can still take a knife for you."

Sierra said nothing.

John said nothing, either.

Lance was stunned.

It felt like his whole worldview had been shattered. He never would have thought a bodyguard would dare talk like that in front of his boss.

"Who are you calling useless?" Tony walked over with a reed between his teeth, looking as careless as ever. "If I hadn't reacted fast enough last time, you would have been the one taking the knife downstairs at King Group."

Marcus answered with two simple words. "It's true."

Tony rolled up his sleeves. "Then come fight me and let's see who's useless."

"You're not my match," Marcus said.

Tony then started. "Miss, I suggest something fair. Have someone tie him up for me. If he still can't break free in ten seconds and still gets beaten, then he's the useless one."

Lance froze.

He was not one of their own. There was no need to warn him. He just needed to beat him up.

"Go easy on him," Sierra reminded them before she left.

"Alright," Marcus said.

"Don't worry." Lance nodded.

The two of them spoke at the same time.

Lance looked confused. Marcus also found it strange that Lance had spoken up. Most likely, Lance would not even get the chance to make a move, so there had been no need for that reassurance.

"Protect the Miss," Marcus told Tony as he moved somewhere else to spar with Lance. He also glanced toward John. "Don't give anyone with bad intentions an opening."

Tony made a gesture to show he understood.

But the truth was different.

The second Marcus left, Tony found an excuse and slipped away too. Since Sierra was not resisting John, he would rather not stay there and play the third wheel.
