"Why didn't you think about whether she would hold it against you when you ignored her just now?" Nathan didn't buy whatever the rest of the family had to say and maintained his stern expression. "You want me to cross my daughter for your sake? Do I look like an idiot?"
Everyone fell silent.
True, but did he have to say it so bluntly? They were all family. Was there really a need to get this angry?
"No matter what, she's still part of the Lynch family..." one of them said after a moment.
"When did she become part of the Lynch family? Why didn't I know about it when I'm her father?" Nathan did it all on purpose.
Everyone blinked.
They asked, "Isn't she your daughter?"
"She is." Nathan nodded.
Everyone thought that made it obvious. "You're the current head of the Lynch family. Isn't it normal for her to be part of the family?"
"Didn't you just say that there was no paternity test earlier and Sierra might be Anna's daughter with another man?" He was never known for being calm. The composure he had shown earlier came only from his status and age. "I'm not afraid of being laughed at, either. Sierra has no plans to acknowledge me as her father for now."
Everyone was shocked by that and visibly stunned. They had not expected such a complication.
Why would she reject a father like Nathan? The Lynch family was still one of Harbor City's four major families, and Nathan's status and achievements in Harbor City were among the very best. How stubborn did Sierra have to be for her to act like that?
"I'm the one who's trying to force her to take those shares," Nathan said. It was more or less the truth.
"Do you really think everyone here is stupid?" Cedric could not listen to all that anymore.
If Nathan kept misleading them like this. This group might actually believe him because of their blind faith in Nathan's abilities.
"If she really doesn't want them, why did she go through so much trouble for the King family? If you're going to lie, at least make it believable."
Daniel gave Nathan a glance. He had gone overboard now, didn't he? If he had just followed the proper process, everything would be much simpler.
Only when Nathan took out his phone and made the call right in front of them and the person on the other end agreed without hesitation did they realize he might actually mean business.
"Don't believe him." Cedric felt this was an opportunity. "It's not as if the Lynch family can't function without him. I can manage the company..."
Everyone fell into silence as the gears in their mind were kicked into overdrive.
It did not matter how they fought among themselves during normal times. The Lynch family's future had always been secure, after all.
Only now did they suddenly realize something extremely important.
Nathan disliked all of them, and he disliked the Lynch family itself. They had broken him and Anna apart, forced him into a marriage alliance with someone else, and even the child in Anna's womb had been "aborted" because of pressure from the Lynch family.
It was not impossible for Nathan to wash his hands of the Lynch family completely.
Meanwhile, Sierra would soon have the shares from the King family as well as John's backing.
