Nathan had more money than he knew what to do with. Under those circumstances, there was a real chance he had grown tired of dealing with everyone else. The Lynch family's prosperity over the years was tied to him, after all.
Without him and the people he had trained, there might not be any major changes in the short term if someone else took over the company. But within five years, the Lynch family would become the weakest of the four major families. Things might get even worse as time goes by.
"Nathan..." The older members of the family all wanted to influence him.
"I have something to do, so I'm going to leave now." Nathan ignored them. His dark eyes looked at everyone around the room. "Enjoy yourselves."
"Everything is up for discussion."
"Shawn doesn't have to resign that quickly."
"The rest of us have no objections if you want to transfer the shares."
The people who had stayed neutral spoke up one after another, but Nathan left without looking back.
He had only wanted to say a few things and work with John to put on an act at first, but he suddenly felt that his analysis made sense. Instead of wasting energy dealing with these people and trying to persuade them, he might as well let them face reality on their own.
Once he left, the argument became heated.
Everyone turned to Daniel and asked, "Aren't you going to say something to him?"
"There's nothing to say." No one knew if Daniel had already given up or he was still plotting something. "I owe him for what happened back then. I can't force him again now after I already interfered once about twenty years ago."
Not to mention that even if he wanted to force Nathan now, he might not be able to. The method that had worked on Anna back then would not work with Sierra.
Nathan understood that, hence why he had the courage to speak so bluntly at the dinner just now. Although both he and Anna could not see a future where Sierra and John remarry, those people firmly believed it would happen even when they themselves wanted to stop it.
After leaving the Lynch residence, Nathan sent Sierra a message.
[If anyone from the Lynch family comes looking for you during this time, don't see them.]
When Sierra saw the message, she was still in John's car.
Noticing the change in her expression, John asked, "What's wrong?"
Sierra showed him her phone.
Marcus saw what happened and was about to remind her to stay wary of John, but because of his conversation with John that night, he swallowed those words back.
"They probably failed to reach an agreement," Sierra said as she made a guess.
Tony said, "If you have something else to discuss next time, get in my car instead. I'll show you what a real driver can do."
John said, "Fine."
Robin blinked.
John agreed to that?
"I'm going in first." Sierra knew Tony was just blowing smoke again, so she didn't get involved. "Don't contact me unless it's necessary from now on. You also don't need to help with my problems."
"It's pretty cold outside." John did not answer her. "Get in."
Sierra stared at him. "I'm serious."
John said, "So am I."
Sierra was speechless.
John reached out and his warm hand wrapped around hers. Her hand was icy to the touch, so he warmed it for her. "It's only been a little while. Look how cold your hands are already."
