Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 662

Marcus and Tony exchanged a glance when they heard Sierra's joke.

Marcus's face stayed as blank as ever, not worried about his salary getting deducted at all. "Basic."

Sierra said, "I'm a basic woman."

"That makes you seem very ordinary," Marcus said.

Sierra nodded. "I'm an ordinary boss."

"We like someone unique," Marcus said.

"We?" Sierra asked.

"Just him. This has nothing to do with me." Tony's tone was the same as always. "As a loyal bodyguard, I like every version of you."

Marcus and Sierra could not say a word.

That was so cheesy.

Sierra forced herself to stay calm. "Well said."

Marcus was even more confused as he looked at her with his blank face.

Sierra met his eyes and said, "Don't look at me. If you want to stay by my side and keep working for me, learn more from Tony."

"We should take her to the hospital." Marcus looked away. His serious manner made it look like he was not joking. "She must be sick. I'll make an appointment."

Tony suggested, "Make one for neurology and psychiatry."

Marcus said, "Sure."

Sierra was confused. Were they really not afraid of being fired when they said that right in front of her?

She asked that question after they got home when she stepped out of the car.

Tony's answer was, "You won't."

Marcus nodded. "That's right."

"What gave you that confidence?" Sierra asked directly. She found these two more and more difficult to figure out.

"Who else but you?" Tony said with a smile. Whenever he smiled, there was a hint of playfulness in it. "You're a very nice boss. You can tell jokes apart from the truth and you know we only do this occasionally. You won't really hold it against us."

Marcus nodded. "Right."

Anna's mouth twitched. The image appeared in her mind before she could stop it.

"After I'm full, you can just reward me with a few bones." Nathan sounded extremely humble.

Anna ignored him completely.

Shamelessness this late was worth less than anything. Forget bones, he wouldn't even get a dog's leftovers.

Sierra happened to hear this when she was going upstairs. For a moment, she didn't know whether she should walk out from around the corner. No matter what her mother's relationship with Nathan was, he was still her elder in terms of age and seniority.

Hearing an elder say something like that... It did not seem very appropriate.

Her phone buzzed twice at this time. It was exactly the wrong time.

Anna and Nathan looked over at the same time. Sierra coughed lightly and stepped out awkwardly, her gaze meeting theirs.

"I just came up. I didn't hear anything," she explained on instinct.

Only after saying it did she realize that made her sound like she had heard everything. So, she decisively changed the subject while holding up her phone.

"It's Cyrus. I'll answer it first."
