Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 665

What Nathan did in the past was wrong, but he had not gone to Anna right away after realizing it.

From Sierra's perspective, her biological father was weak. So weak that he had never once gone to find Anna in more than twenty years, let alone apologize.

"Sierra," Nathan called out to her.

Sierra looked up at him.

Nathan seemed to have realized something. "Was your mother unhappy back then?"

"No one can still be happy after being betrayed and hurt." Sierra did not answer directly, but the hint was clear enough. "A physical wound needs time to heal, let alone an emotional one."

Nathan fell silent.

Sierra said goodbye after that. "Be careful on your way back. I'm going back inside now."

"I didn't go looking for her because I didn't know how to face her." Nathan spoke before she could leave. "Everyone told me she was doing well. They told me not to disturb her peaceful life."

Sierra pressed her lips.

She asked him directly, "Including Mom?"

Natha's eyes opened wide.

No.

That night, Anna had only told him she hated him and would never forgive him.

"Even if Mom had said that, you still should have apologized and made amends for what you did." Sierra only cared about right and wrong. "Instead, you wait around and tell yourself you're being devoted."

One simple sentence pierced Nathan's heart. No one had ever explained it to him from that angle.

"Even if you never married or have more children doesn't prove how deeply you loved Mom."

Sierra's words were precise.

Only this time, she would not stay home as a full-time wife. She would not be afraid of danger. She would have learned how to manage a business and entrepreneurship from Anna from a young age.

"I understand." Nathan had learned a lot from this. "Thank you."

Sierra said nothing more. After saying her goodbye, she left.

Because of that conversation, Sierra's mind was a mess after she washed up and lay in bed.

On one hand, she knew the current John would not make the same mistake again. On the other hand, she still cared about what had happened back then.

If Pamela had never existed, would he have realized how important Sierra was to him? Would he have realized she was irreplaceable?

During that one-month waiting period, everything he did came from his certainty that she could not leave him, not that he could not leave her.

She pulled the blanket over her head and smothered those messy thoughts when she couldn't figure things out. Love, feelings, being a replacement… None of it mattered. She only needed to run Medicare well.
