Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 674

Otherwise, both shares and the full authority over Henderson Group would still be in Danny's hands. John most likely would have been threatened and controlled in every possible way too, just like Solomon.

Nathan looked at John with a little more scrutiny. "The way you are… It's very hard for me to relax about Sierra being with you."

John shrugged. "You should be nicer to the hand that feeds. I made dinner tonight."

Nathan raised his eyebrow. "And I washed the dishes."

"The dishwasher washed them," John reminded him.

"I was still the one who put them in." Nathan scoffed.

"You only put the dishes and utensils in. Mom was the one who pressed start." John clarified.

Nathan could not win the argument, so he could only add a little pressure using his position as an elder. "Our family won't accept a son-in-law as sharp-tongued as you."

John went straight for the head. "Has Mom agreed to make you a family yet?"

Nathan went silent. He simply did not want to say another word to him anymore.

Nathan went back inside, then sat beside Anna, coldness still in his eyes. Anna noticed, but she did not care to ask. She simply watched the New Year's Special with Sierra, Cyrus, and the others.

"Anna," Nathan could not help calling out.

Anna glanced at him.

Nathan started badmouthing John. "John isn't good enough. He's too calculating and too sharp tongued. It'll be bad for Sierra if she stays with him."

"So she'd be better off with someone simple-minded and clumsy with words?" Anna retorted. "Besides, when did Sierra ever say she was going to stay with him?"

Nathan said, "I'm just worried."

Anna rolled her eyes. "Your worry is unnecessary."

Nathan called out again, "Anna."

Anna looked away. "Be quiet."

Nathan did not dare speak again.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw John come in and sit beside Tommy. Sierra was sitting on the other side, and the three of them sitting together looked very much like a family of three.

"There are no empty rooms," Anna refused flatly.

"Aren't there still plenty of unused guest rooms?" Nathan pretended not to understand what Anna was saying. "I can make the bed myself."

Anna had no emotional reaction at all. "Do whatever you like."

Nathan immediately felt much better. His smile had only appeared halfway when Anna's next sentence came.

"As long as you're not afraid of waking up in the middle of the night and finding yourself thrown onto the street."

Nathan choked.

He felt deeply unfair.

Why could John stay, but he couldn't? How had John managed to stay? It looked like it because Tommy had spoken up for him.

Then, Nathan could also...

After a quick glance at the calm Sierra, he decisively dismissed that thought. There was no need to ask. Sierra would definitely not let him stay here.
