Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 675

In the end, Nathan left with Cyrus at ten that night.

When the car's taillights disappeared in the darkness, John received a text from Nathan.

[I didn't expect you to be so dutiful.]

Sierra saw it, but she did not quite understand why Nathan had suddenly praised John. John did not hide the text from her. His fingers moved slightly as he typed a reply. He knew Nathan was mocking him on purpose.

[It's everyone for themselves.]

Nathan grew even angrier.

That accursed son-in-law!

John did not even think to help him.

Nathan's text came in. [I'll never approve of you and Sierra forever!]

John texted back.

[Once Mom agrees to let you into the family, I might consider your opinion.]

John saw from the corner of his eye that Sierra was no longer looking, so he replied without worry.

[Until then, keep trying.]

Nathan's expression darkened at once as he almost choked. He glanced at the driver in the front seat and said in a low voice, "Are all young people this rude now?"

Among the younger generation, which of them were not respectful when they saw him? But this one… All he did was provoke him and talk back. He was Sierra's father, after all!

The more Nathan thought about it, the angrier he became. After that, he kept sending John more text messages, wanting to leave him no time to talk to Sierra and Tommy, so Anna would think he was unreliable and always playing on his phone.

At first, John replied seriously. Ten minutes later, he started playing dirty.

[Mom saw your messages.]

Nathan's fingers paused over the screen. He quickly argued back. [Do you think I'll fall for that?]

The response was quick. [I'll have Mom talk to you.]

Nathan blinked.

What was going on? Anna could not have actually seen them, could she?

Nathan: [Anna will definitely stay with me. You don't need to doubt that.]

Nathan: [Do you think knowing how to cook means you can be forgiven?]

Nathan: [When Tommy is a little older, I'll introduce Sierra to other outstanding young men. Then Tommy can call someone else Dad.]

Attached to it was a sticker with a smug smile.

There were several more messages besides those.

She knew Nathan was only joking and arguing with John, but it looked different to a child.

Nathan: [Why are you so quiet?]

Nathan: [?]

Nathan was still typing.

Anna returned the phone to Tommy, then sent Nathan a message from her own phone.

Only after confirming that he had received it did Anna say to Tommy, "Don't worry about what he said. John will always be your only dad. No one can ask you to call anyone else, including your grandpa."
