Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 679

"You talk as if you don't care about any of this," Peter said as he scoffed at Charlie, looking at him with mockery. "Out of everyone here, you're the most worried."

Charlie's face darkened even more.

This idiot!

Peter did not care what Charlie thought of him.

"I heard Sierra has already completed one project, and the funds will be transferred to the company account after the New Year. Judging by the timeline, her other project should be finished in a few months too. By then, all the shares in your hands must be returned to her."

"Those shares belonged to them in the first place." Charlie was very good at hiding what he really thought, especially when the subject of the conversation was around.

In this case, Sierra.

"Anyone can say the right thing for the show." Peter exposed the act without mercy. "Deep down, do you really think that she deserves any of it?"

Charlie stared at him.

Had he lost his mind? What was the point of saying any of this here?

"The shares don't have much to do with me," Peter continued, sweeping his gaze around the table. "I just want to know whether Dad plans to leave Anna part of his inheritance after he passed away."

Cyrus was seething with anger. He had never expected his own son to say something so outrageous. Was Peter that eager for him to die?

"Uncle Peter, are you in such a hurry to know because you're afraid you won't live to see that day?" Sierra said.

"Watch the way you speak, girl!" Peter said angrily, his eyes narrowed as he looked at her. "This is the King family. You have no place to speak here."

"You're allowed to talk about your father like that, but I'm not allowed to talk about you?" Sierra shot back calmly.

Peter was about to lose his temper.

Maxwell, who had not spoken all this time, finally said, "Uncle Peter, you've gone too far."

Peter opened his mouth, but he forced down what he wanted to say in the end.

After lunch, Sierra and Maxwell took Cyrus for a walk around the estate to help with his digestion. Charlie, Peter, and the others were still at the table.

Once Peter saw they had gone far enough, he asked, "What was that just now?"

Charlie looked at him, acting as if he did not understand what Peter meant.

"Don't tell me you really want to give the shares to Sierra. You think I don't know what kind of person you are?" Peter said bluntly. "Watching Sierra complete a project… You must be more anxious than anyone."

Charlie remained calm. "Why would I be anxious?"

"The shares from your branch of the family have to go to Sierra," Peter said.

"And?" Charlie said.

"Never mind all the advantages that come with holding more shares. Are you willing to give up the returns those shares bring every year?"
