Chapter 71
“You should go back to your work. You don’t have to come just for me,” Pamela said once she had achieved her goal. “It’s nothing serious, after all. I’ll be fine after some rest.”
“Alright,” John replied, not pushing it.
The two exchanged a few more polite remarks before ending the call.
Kenneth knew all about the complicated mess between John, Sierra, and Pamela, but he didn’t expect John to go this far.
“You know Pamela’s lying, right?”
John’s dark eyes were impossible to read. “What are you trying to say?”
“To put it in plainly…” Kenneth got closer. He chose his words carefully and said, “Pamela is usually called a wolf in sheep’s clothing, or a fausse ingenue.”
John remained calm. “Indeed.”

Kenneth swallowed the words back into his throat.
He knew how John operated. Back when Sierra was the one who had been harmed, John hadn’t bothered with the details as well. He had stood in front of her and told everyone he was there to back her up, not to listen to reason.
Kenneth had admired that once. His best friend was truly the man among men.
But now, simply because Sierra wanted a divorce and Pamela had come under his wing, he was willing to pin the blame on Sierra for Pamela’s sake, regardless of who was right or wrong.
At its core, it was still that same fierce loyalty.
Now, it just felt…twisted.
“Be honest with me,” Kenneth said, raising the suspicion in his mind. “Do you actually like the type that screams Lady Macbeth?

John shot him a look but didn’t answer.
He didn’t like that type.
Even if that person was Pamela, who had done him a favor in the past.
He was only doing this because Sierra’s attitude had rubbed him the wrong way. He was certain that if Holly had said the same
