John Henderson sat in the chair in the CEO’s office, impeccably dressed, calm and composed.

When they walked in, his steady gaze swept over everyone one by one, then paused on Sierra before moving on almost at once.

In that instant, Sierra’s good mood for the entire day vanished. No matter how she had tried to prepare herself, she had never imagined that this would be the outcome of all her careful investigation.

“This is Mr. Henderson from Henderson Group. For the next two months, he will be serving as CEO of Origin Games,” the manager introduced him to the staff. “He will have full authority over the new project. From now on, you will report directly to Mr. Henderson, not to me.”

“Understood,” everyone answered.

The manager began introducing the team members to John one by one.

From the moment she entered, Sierra’s eyes had been fixed on John. The urge to resign surfaced again and again in her mind.

Origin Games was a listed company, but Henderson Group owned hundreds of listed companies just like it. He could barely keep up with his own company, yet he had come here.

She didn’t buy for a second that he had no ulterior motive.

“This is our new concept artist, Sierra Bell,” the manager continued. “She has extensive creative experience and very solid illustration skills.”

John glanced at her and looked away, his tone flat. “Alright.”

Having known John’s background from his own boss, the manager Morgan Snyder was eager to keep John satisfied. “Is there anything else you would like to ask?”

“Nothing for the moment,” John said unhurriedly. “I’m only concerned with the project schedule.”

The manager said nothing else and dismissed everyone.

Sierra had wanted to question John right then, but there were too many people around. If she stayed behind, she would only become the center of office gossip. Back at their desks, everyone started talking.

“Our new CEO is so handsome! That mature vibe is exactly my type!”

“Wait until your tasks are overdue. With that vibe of his, he’s going to kill you.”

“Just focus on your work. He doesn’t look like the easygoing type.”

“Sierra,” someone called.

Sierra snapped out of her thoughts of wanting to resign and quickly adjusted her expression. “Yes?”

“Have you finished reading the project documents?” The woman who walked over wore a basic office outfit, her cool eyes looking calmly on Sierra.

“I still have a bit left to go through,” Sierra replied.

“If there’s anything you do not understand, come to me,” the woman said directly. Her hair reaching her shoulder made her look crisp and capable. “You’re on my team. If there are any problems, we deal with them quickly,”

Sierra agreed.

She knew this had to be her team lead, Jenny White.

However, Sierra couldn’t concentrate all afternoon.
