Chapter 104

Hades POV

She’s a pitiful sight. Her face is so pale she’s almost translucent, and her body is covered in dark purple bruises. Her ankle is so swollen that it looks like there’s a tennis ball on the side of it. It’s a miracle she’d managed to make it that far into the forest barefoot, let alone take out a shifter on her own. She was tough. She was made of granite. She was a warrior princess. My warrior princess. I feel nothing, but pride rises inside me as I try to hide my emotions but think I might have been unsuccessful from the look in Aeress’s eyes.

“She looks all beaten up,” Aeress whispered, putting a hand to her mouth and looking dismayed.

“She’ll recover,” the doctor’s voice is solemn, “but it will take some time without a wolf. Her progress will be slow but gradual. She’s stable at least.”

“Take my blood,” I instructed hoarsely as Aeress’s eyes brimmed with tears, “whatever it takes,” I continued with determination, and then felt somebody shove me aside, causing me to stumble.

“Take mine instead. This bastard is the reason she’s in the hospital,” Damien Shadow’s voice rings clear as I turn to growl at him.

“How dare you?” I snarl, my wolf already beginning to surface.

Who did he think he was dealing with? He had no authority here.

How did he know Raven was injured, and what was his relationship to her? Was this the man in the restaurant, the one she’d been seeing. I saw red, grabbing him by the throat and slamming him hard against the wall, my lips curled back. My jealousy became overwhelming and I struggled to hold myself back, even as my wolf began to surge to the surface.

“This isn’t your concern,” I snarled.

He yanked my hands off of him, glaring at me, “It’s not yours either, Alpha Hades, or have you forgotten about Marissa and your wedding? What is she going to think if you willingly give blood to an omega, somebody you have no relationship to? Just because you’ve done it before as a thank you for saving a life, doesn’t mean you should continue to do so. Worry about your fiancée and leave Raven to me,” he shouted vehemently.

He looks on the verge of shifting to make me leave. His aura is growing stronger, indicating he’s about to lose control. So be it. I was more powerful than he was, and he knew it, despite his recklessness. I’ll be damned if anybody else gives Raven blood. He can get fucked.
