Chapter 16
Raven POV
“Everything you want is right at your fingertips; all you have to do is grab it with both hands.”
I can still hear her voice. I can still remember her words. Even when I woke up, I could still see the image of the moon goddess in all her glory inside my mind. I hadn’t forgotten. I feel as though everything has become more focussed, clearer. She’d been right. I didn’t have to play the victim anymore. I didn’t have to go with everybody else’s narrative. I could forge my own path, find my own way. I could take away everything that Marissa had ever wanted and make her feel the same pain and suffering I had felt. I could take revenge without feeling guilty about it. I could free myself. All I had to do was take the first step. Determination takes over me. Suddenly, I want nothing more than to plan the next step, to plot and make all of those who hurt me pay. Revenge. I wanted it with a fierceness that astounded me.
Marissa wanted to marry Hades more than anything. She was after the power that being Luna would give her. My eyes slide over to him in the backseat of the car. I can see him stealing glances at me, see the way he tries to avoid my eyes. I slide over slowly; my body pressed against him. I feel him tense and then stiffen. I give a seductive smile as I catch hold of his face and use both hands to keep him still.
“Hades,” I said very suggestively, “do you know how long I’ve been wanting to do this?”
I swing my leg over, seating myself comfortably on his lap. I’m quick and decisive. I kneel over each side of his legs; my hospital gown hiked up my thighs, and then I press my lips against his with no hesitation.
He hesitates for the briefest moment. I slide my hands around his neck and rise up slightly, deepening the kiss. He groans, and his hands shoot out, clasping my waist as he gives in with great enthusiasm. It’s like lightning hits me. His mouth begins to push back, to take me roughly, his tongue slowly parting my lips. I feel him begin to press inside my mouth, his tongue exploring me, making me moan and gasp. It’s torture. Pure torture. My body heats up. I feel him push me carefully back onto his lap and I writhe, causing a sharp inhalation from him. I feel his tongue caressing the inside of my mouth, teasing, plundering. I can barely breathe. I whimper, my body growing aroused. It’s too much and yet not enough. Not nearly enough. I want him to desire me, to crave me. I want him to go crazy for my touch and for my body. I want him to forget everything he knew about Marissa, and I wanted most of all to break this engagement. I just hadn’t expected a kiss to feel this fucking amazing. I can feel my whole body trembling, shaken to the core by how he had made me feel.
He pulls away, panting heavily. I force air back into my lungs. My body shakes. My lips are swollen, and my hair is even more dishevelled, like a bird’s nest. My arms slowly unwrap from around his neck. Silence, Hades looks as though he’s struggling to regain his composure. I slowly climb back off him, rubbing against his cock in the process as he gives a swift inhalation. As I settle back in my seat, Hade’s expression turns inscrutable. It’s impossible to tell what he’s thinking, but I suspect he’s about to put some distance between us. Never mind. I had plenty of time to make him fall for me. I could be patient.
“Raven,” his voice is hoarse, almost raspy, “I need to make something clear to you.”
I lightly trail my fingers down his arm, enjoying the way his eyes darkened momentarily. I can feel the muscles tensing whenever I touch them. He coughs.
“Look what just happened, it can’t happen again,” he breathes.
He’s not very convincing. His voice lacks conviction. I smirk at him even as my hand pauses. I tilt my head, looking directly into his eyes, a small smile curving on my lips. “Didn’t you enjoy it? You didn’t seem to mind,” I purred.
This was a new Raven. A confident Raven. I felt powerful. Like nothing could break me. I felt comfortable in my own skin, and even though I had never seduced anybody before, I thought I was doing a damn good job at it Thank god for the romance novels I used to steal from the trashcan whenever Marissa was finished with them.
