Chapter 23
Raven’s POV
Now’s my chance. I slowly ease the door open and tiptoe across the hallway, opening the door to Hade’s study with a slight creaking noise and walk in, shutting the door behind me and locking it. He looks up sharply, “What are you doing in here?”
His expression is like granite. I’m not cowed or intimidated. It’s just an act. A way to convince me to leave, and it’s not going to work.
“I wanted to thank you for my dress,” I breathed, sauntering forward, my hand lightly trailing across the bodice, causing his eyes to instantly dip towards my breasts. “You managed to get the right size and all,” I purred, stopping and smoothing my hands down my hips as he swallowed hard, raking his gaze over my body.
He can’t tear his eyes off of me. I feel a deep sense of satisfaction as well as a sense of pride. This man couldn’t resist me, no matter how much he might deny it. This was going to make things a hell of a lot easier. Part of me can’t deny the exhilaration I feel whenever I’m near him or the adrenaline as I use my feminine charms to seduce him. It’s like being on a rollercoaster, only better.
“It wasn’t me?” he denied irritably, glancing away and staring stubbornly at a painting on the wall from his chair.
“Really?” I move closer, trailing my hand across the edge of his desk as I walk around it, “because I can’t think of anybody else who would,” I purred, tilting my head and eyeing him quizzically, “can you Hades?”
Silence. I stop just before my hand reaches him and grab the arms of his chair, whipping it around and forcing him to look at me. I bend down, exposing my cleavage, his eyes greedily looking down my dress.
“Hades,” I breathe.
“Raven,” his voice is strangled now as he pulls at his bowtie, breathing heavily, loosening it. “You should leave.”
“Maybe I don’t want to,” I tell him boldly, sitting on his lap and looking directly into his eyes. “Maybe I want to be with you, touch you, taste you,” I murmured.
He gives an exclamation and quickly picks me up, putting me on the edge of the end of his desk. “Raven, I’m not the man you want. I can’t love you,” he said thickly.
“Shhh,” I put a finger to my lips and begin to rub my foot up and down the inside of his thigh, careful to avoid his member. “I haven’t asked you to love me,” I tell him firmly, “I know what I’m getting into. I know there’s no future for us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have our fun now, does it?” I whisper, looking directly into his eyes and curving my lips at him.
“Fuck,” the expletive comes from nowhere.
He clenches his jaw, looking conflicted. I smile seductively at him and lean back on the desk, putting my arms behind me for balance.
“Ever since we kissed, I haven’t been able to forget it,” I whisper as he groans, “just the feel of your lips, your tongue, it was so amazing and sexy.”
