Hades POV

I do up the buttons on my shirt with shaking hands and step into the nearest bathroom. I wash my hands and smooth down my hair, eyeing myself in the mirror. There’s no sign of what just happened back in that room. [/let out an exhale, even as I smell Raven’s subtle scent on me. At least it wasn’t strong due to her being wolf-less, and I could easily explain it away. I step back out, realizing that I had left my jacket and bow tie behind, and then shrugged, walking outside. Marissa is waiting by the stage, a foul look on her face. Quite some time has passed since we had our argument. If she ever found out what happened between Raven and me…no, Raven wasn’t the type of girl to go and tell. It made me feel slightly guilty. “Where have you been?” Marissa hissed, “do you know how long I’ve been waiting for you?”

Her mother, whom I already strongly dislike, puts a warning hand on Marissa’s arm and shakes her head. Marissa flattens her lips and falls silent, still sulking.

“Your jacket and bowtie are missing,” her mother comments casually.

“It was hot,” I force myself to be nonchalant.

“Hmmm” is all she says, her voice criticizing.

I eye her, daring her to continue, and she looks away, flattening her lips.

“Let’s get this over and done with,” I say icily.
