Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 294

Chapter 294

Aaron POV

I didn’t move from her side. Not to eat, not to shower, not even to take a single phone call. My only focus was on Asher and the desperation I felt as I watched her, silently begging her to wake up.

I stared at her as though she was the only thing keeping me clinging to life right now, because she was.

“Baby, I’m sorry, I’m so so sorry,” my voice was thick, my eyes heavy, “please come back to me. I’ll do anything to make this right.”

No answer, but as I held her hand, I felt her fingers twitch. It was the first sign of life she’d shown in two days.

I gripped her hand tighter, squeezing it.

“That’s it, babygirl. Listen to my voice and feel my grip on your hand,” I encouraged.

Her hand twitched.

I stood up, moving closer, and saw her eyes beginning to flutter open.

It took a lifetime until she fully opened her eyes to look at me, and when she did, I was struck with overwhelming guilt once more.

“Aaron,” she whispered as doctors came rushing in, moving around me to check her vitals.

“You’re awake,” I whispered, my voice cracking with relief, “you woke up. I was so worried.”

“Where am I?”

My heart stopped.

For a moment I thought I might have misheard or that she hadn’t fully woken up yet, but when her eyes glazed with confusion, I realized she meant it.

“You’re in the hospital,” a doctor interjected as Asher frowned at him. “What do you remember about the incident that brought you here?” he asked solemnly.

She creased her brows.

“Nothing,” she finally said, the doctor nodding absently. “Why am I here? Did something happen to me?” her voice began to rise.

“This isn’t unexpected,” the doctor rushed to reassure us as I glared at him, “sometimes a brain injury or traumatic event can result in temporary amnesia.”

“Amnesia? So she won’t be able to tell us who did this to her?” I shot out angrily, “How long will this amnesia last?”

Asher remained silent, her eyes sliding between the doctor and me as she listened intently.

“Everyone is different. Her memory could come back in a day, in a few hours, a few weeks, or even months. There’s no way to tell for sure.”
