Marissa’s eyes begin to shine with determination. “But what if nothing works?” she faltered.
Her mother rolled her eyes at her dramatics. It was time Marissa put on her big girl pants and got some balls.
“Then he’s gay,” MaryAnne Sinclair was blunt as she put an arm around her daughter, comforting her, “never in the history of the world has a man failed to be persuaded by a woman’s looks and her charms. It’s how I got your father and became Luna of our pack.”
It had taken work and effort, but in the end, she had managed to win that stupid man over and been all the better for it. She was set for life now and all because she'd refused to fail. Marissa needed to do the same.
“But he died, and you haven’t looked at anybody else,” Marissa retorted, “you’ve always been my mother first and foremost, but don’t’ you want somebody to love and keep you company?”
