Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 48

Chapter 48

Raven POV

“What exactly do you want to hear?” I asked uncomfortably, “There’s not much to tell, really,” I insisted/ my voice slightly high-pitched as I began to feel nervous.

This felt like an interrogation.

Then again, it was hardly surprising. Aeress had practically been bouncing up and down on the chair, eyeing me expectantly for all the details.

“What did you think? He’s nice, right? I told you he was nice,” Aeress babbled excitedly, “not to mention sweet. Both of them are like giant teddy bears. I bet you hit it off right away,” she added, clapping her

hands and beaming at me.

She was so adorable and naïve at the same time. Thank God she didn’t know I had a thing for her brother, otherwise things might be a bit strained between us. It was easy to see how Jackson had fallen in love with her. I adored her too. I would give my life for her, even though we had barely gotten to know each other. I had never felt so comfortable with anybody before, so in love, just not in the romantic sense.

“Actually, we decided that we would rather be friends,” I hedged, looking at her apologetically, “neither one of us could feel anything romantic towards one another. He just feels too familiar to me. Like I’ve met him before although I couldn’t say when,” I mused.

Maybe it was my imagination, but I felt like I knew Damien. There was just something about him that drew me to him and not in a romantic way. I wanted to get to know him more and learn about his life. Maybe there was something in our past that we shared, or something? Maybe we had met in our childhood?

“Oh man,” Aeress complained, looking put out, “I was sure that you two were meant for one another. Never mind,” she sighed with disappointment, “I’m just glad to be away from Hades. He was so fucking uptight back there. You should have seen the glower on his face. I’m surprised he didn’t change into a wolf and kill everyone the way he was going. Gods, he has a major stick up his ass,” she continued to vent as I giggled.

“Your dress is all wrinkled,” she added absent-mindedly, looking down at it, “I should have got it dry cleaned,” she muttered.
