Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 65

Chapter 65

“Hades,” Jackson’s voice interrupts me.

I turn, hiding my scowl. He didn’t know it, but I had seen the mark on his neck this mornin,g and it had taken everything I had not to leap over the table and throttle him. Even now, I was feeling particularly violent towards him. I took a moment to gather my composure and then turned, raising a brow.

“What is it?” I asked tersely.

He frowned at me. “There’s a serious problem with the patrol rosters. We have too many people on patrol, according to this. I haven’t organized extra people, have you?” he prodded.

“No,” I said, perplexed, “what does it matter?”

Maybe we had forgotten to update the rosters or something. Although now that I thought about it, Jackson was extremely diligent when it came to them. He was in charge of security after all. If he was concerned, then there was every reason to be. But what would explain the difference in numbers?

“Because,” he said impatiently, “there’s no explanation for the extra people and their names aren’t on the roster. They’ve magically appeared out of nowhere. I don’t think they belong to our pack,” he said lowly,” because I can’t recall seeing them before and I was careful to observe them from afar, so that they didn’t become suspicious. They also have a strange smell on them as though they’ve taken something to

mask their scent.”

“How many extras?” I snapped to attention.
