Chapter 68
Raven POV
I feel like I can’t breathe. Everything I’ve known, everything I’ve believed has just been turned upside down. My world had come crashing down. I feel betrayed, angry, confused, and bitter all at once. All my life, I’d been abused, and the entire time my real family had been searching for me. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t put the pieces together earlier. No wonder Damien had felt so familiar to me, and I had been so comfortable with him. We were siblings. Tears well in my eyes. How different would my life had been if I had grown up in the Shadow Pack, loved by my family? How much misery and suffering would I have been spared?
They want answers. I don’t blame them. My father looks ready to tear the offender from limb to limb. Aeress takes my hand, squeezing it gently. I look at her, my lower lip quivering as tears well in my eyes.
“Raven honey, take a deep breath. I know this is a bit much for you. Just breathe,” she urged.
A tear trickles down my cheek. My father lets out a small anguished cry, and my brother looks heartbroken.
“You’re my family,” I manage to utter, my voice a hushed whisper.
Then I do the unexpected. I spill. “MaryAnne Sinclair is my mother.”
There was no point hiding it anymore. She didn’t deserve any of my kindness or compassion. She was a monster. I couldn’t hold back my hatred anymore.
MaryAnne Sinclair had nothing to do with me at all. Grace Shadow was my biological mother. Rage takes over. I never got to meet my real mother, the woman who had birthed me and died never knowing what happened to me. MaryAnne had taken everything from me. She’d been the reason my mother died broken -hearted. She had no conscience. I could barely hold onto my composure.
“MaryAnne Sinclair has three children?” Damien looks puzzled, “But all reports indicated she only gave birth to twins.”
