eyes.

She looked at Ryker, searching for something-anything-in his eyes. Regret. Guilt. Anger. But nothing, Just the same cold stare.

“I shouldn’t have come,” she whispered, turning to go.

Her wolf whimpered inside, but Jenna didn’t let the tears fall-not yet. Her feet carried her out of the office, her heart heavy and splintering with every step.

She heard Nina’s evil laughter, from behind like a knife in her back.

“Next time,” the woman called out sweetly, “know your place!”

Jenna didn’t look back, her chest tightened like the air in the hallway wasn’t enough.

She gets back in the elevator, the doors closing with a soft ding as soon as it closes her hands begin to tremble.

Her wolf growled inside her, feeling the pain and betrayal. She wasn’t supposed to feel this way. It was supposed to be a contract.

She thought somehow he was different but the moon goddess was punishing her.

He’s a monster!!!

She’s moving in

The mansion was colder today, or maybe it just felt that way.

Jenna sat on the edge of her bed–her bed, not the one down the hall where Ryker slept. She’d never moved into the master bedroom, even after he tried to get her to. That space felt like it belonged to another version of her one who believed in genuine love and not betrayals.

She looked around her not-so-small and exotic room. It felt awfully different today, but one thing was sure. She was done crying over him.

Her stomach tightened. The babies stirred faintly, and she instinctively laid a hand over her bump.

The knock on the door came too late-Mrs. Anderson walked in without waiting, holding a pile of folded towels.

“They’re bringing another wardrobe into the guest suite,” the old lady said, her voice clipped. “You might want to let them know if you’re staying or leaving.”

Jenna’s eyes snapped up. “Why would I go?”

Mrs. Anderson didn’t answer. Her expression gave nothing away, but the way she dropped the towels onto the chair said more than words.

“She’s moving in, isn’t she?” Jenna asked, her voice low.

“You should know by now,” The old lady replied flatly. “He was definitely going to bring her in mostly because of her condition.”

What conditions are you talking about? “She’s his fiancée,” Jenna said bitterly. “I’m his wife.”

Mrs. Anderson met her eyes this time, with a little pity in it. “Paper means nothing if the heart doesn’t follow.”

The door shut behind her.

Jenna stared at it, her chest tightening. She bit back the sting in her throat. The silence that followed felt hurtful.

Then her phone buzzed.

A private number. She almost didn’t pick up. But instinct guided her thumb.

She answered without a word.

“Well, well, well,” came Coty’s unmistakably smug voice. “Did you like your little surprise?”

Jenna didn’t respond. Her silence was enough.

Coty laughed, her voice loud and dark. “You should’ve seen your face. I wish I’d been there when you walked in and saw him with her. Classic.”

“You look so pathetic,” Coty mocked. “Still clinging to a man who was never yours. You should be thanking me for giving you the wake-up call.”

Jenna bit her lip so hard she tasted blood. “What do you want, Coty?”

“I just wanted to congratulate you,” Coty purred. “On losing. You really thought you could compete, didn’t you?”

Jenna’s fingers clenched the edge of her blanket. Her knuckles turned white.

“You really thought he’d choose you over her?” Coty went on. “Nina’s been promised to him since before you

even bled your first moon. You were always just a… warm-up act.”

“I’m still his wife,” Jenna said through gritted teeth.

“Are you?” Coty’s voice turned cold. “You don’t share a bed. He hasn’t marked you. You haven’t even claimed his monstrous heart. And now… now you’re just the woman carrying a bastard he regrets.”

Jenna inhaled sharply, the words slicing deeper than she’d expected.

“I know so much about the babies,” Coty continued, sweetly. “Quadruplets, right? So funny. You really thought that’d seal the deal?”

Her voice dropped a sting. “Too bad Nina’s pregnant too.”

The world shifted beneath Jenna’s feet. “What?”

“Oh, didn’t you know?” Coty’s feigned innocence stung. “Yep. About as far along as you. Funny, right? Guess Ryker was busy. Or… maybe she just knows how to play the game better.”

Jenna’s mind reeled. Her heart beat so loud, she almost didn’t hear the next part.

“Here’s the deal, dear stepsister,” Coty said. “I’m feeling generous. Back off. Step down quietly, ask Ryker to release my assets, and maybe I’ll tell Nina to go easy on you.’

“You had something to do with this,” Jenna whispered, realization dawning. “You planned all of it.”

“I always plan ahead, Jenna,” Coty said, her voice sounding cold. “You think Nina showing up just now was a coincidence? Do you think she got pregnant by chance? Please. That b*tch can barely stand kids. It’s all for show.”

Jenna’s stomach twisted. “You’re saying she faked it?”

“I’m saying you’re not the only smart one in the family,” Coty said sharply. “And the clock is ticking. You can cling to your pride, stay in that mansion while your so-called mate plays happy families with Nina in his bedroom

or you can get smart.”

Jenna stood, pacing now, fury building beneath her skin. Her wolf snarled within, restless and humiliated.

“I’m not giving anything to you, Coty,” Jenna said tightly. “Not my name. Not the company. Not my place.”

“Oh, honey,” Coty sneered. “You already did. And the longer you stay, the harder you fall. Just wait until Ryker throws you out himself.”

Jenna hung up.

Her hands shook, and her body trembled with suppressed rage. Her breath came fast, sharp. She could still hear Coty’s laughter ringing in her ears, echoing through the room like a haunting.

Her reflection caught her eye in the mirror. Pale. Vulnerable. And her wolf Lexa has suddenly gone cold ever since they saw Nina.

She laid a hand over her stomach again. Feeling her babies.

“I will protect you with my last breath if I have to,” she whispered.

The mansion might not feel like home yet, and Ryker might be cold, distant, and cruel-but this wasn’t just about love anymore. It was about her survival. She had to look for a way to survive far from him.

Still, her chest ached. Her vision blurred. She walked to the closet, grabbed her suitcase, and began to pack.
