Rejected Me Once Never Fool Me Twice (Watt) novel Chapter 44

Chapter 44

The journey back to the pack lands was nothing short of emotional. The past ten years had been a rollercoaster of pain, betrayal, and growth, but now, as I sat in the car beside Zander, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace. This was my homecoming-not just as the rejected mate who had risen from the ashes, but as the Luna of the White Moon Pack.

The moment we arrived at the packhouse, a sea of familiar faces greeted us. Some were happy, others hesitant, but all were there to witness history. The last time I stood before these people, I had been cast aside. Now, I was returning stronger, loved, and with a purpose greater than myself.

Zander held my hand firmly as we stepped out, his presence grounding me. His eyes burned with pride, reflecting the love and admiration he had for me. The past was behind us, and now we were stepping into a new era-together.

The ceremony was set at the heart of the White Moon Pack’s sacred grounds, a place where only the highest- ranking wolves gathered. The clearing was adorned with torches, casting a golden glow against the night sky. The air hummed with anticipation, the energy of the pack palpable.

The Elder Council stood at the front, waiting for us. Elder Mason, the eldest and most revered of them all, stepped forward, his silver eyes locking onto mine.

“Serene, daughter of Zack, former Beta, fated mate of Alpha Zander, and chosen Luna of the White Moon Pack, do you accept the responsibility that comes with leading this pack alongside your mate?”

A hush fell over the gathering, the only sound being the rustling of the trees as the wind whispered through them. I took a deep breath, feeling the power of the Moon Goddess surrounding me.

“I do,” I said, my voice unwavering.

“Do you vow to protect, guide, and serve this pack with honor, courage, and love?” Elder Mason continued.

“I do.”

Zander squeezed my hand before letting go, stepping back as the council prepared for the sacred ritual.

Elder Mason raised a ceremonial dagger, the blade catching the moonlight. “With this offering, we call upon the blessing of the Moon Goddess. May she grant you strength, wisdom, and unwavering loyalty.”

He made a small cut on my palm, then did the same to Zander. We pressed our hands together, allowing our blood to mix-a symbol of unity, strength, and eternal devotion.

A sudden rush of energy coursed through me, the bond between me and the pack snapping into place. I gasped, feeling the pulse of every single member, their emotions, their thoughts, their trust. It was overwhelming yet beautiful.

Zander leaned forward and kissed my forehead, sealing the bond. “My Luna,” he whispered against my skin, his

voice thick with emotion.

A deafening howl erupted from the crowd as the pack officially accepted me. One by one, wolves shifted and howled into the night, their voices merging in a song of unity.

I was no longer just Serene, the rejected mate.

I was Luna.

The celebration that followed was grand. A feast had been prepared, music filled the air, and for the first time in a long time, I felt a sense of true belonging. Members of the pack approached me, offering their respect and pledging their loyalty. Some even apologized for the way they had treated me in the past.

One face I hadn’t expected to see was Kaden.

My brother stood at the edge of the clearing, watching me with an unreadable expression. For years, we had been distant, our relationship fractured by pain and misunderstandings. Now, as he slowly approached, I felt my heart tighten.

“Sis,” he murmured, his voice almost lost in the sounds of the celebration.

I swallowed hard, memories flashing through my mind. The brother who once stood by my side had turned his back on me when I needed him most. And yet, here he was.

“Kaden.” My voice was careful, guarded.

His eyes flickered with something-regret, perhaps. “I-” He hesitated, then sighed. “I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness, but I need you to know that I never stopped loving you. I was a coward, and for that, I am sorry.”

Tears pricked at my eyes. “You hurt me, Kaden. More than you’ll ever know.”

“I know.” He looked down, his fists clenching. “But I want to make it right.”
